Casa Grande
I'm learning lots from all your posts! I add my two cents that each of us have priorities about what makes an area desirable.
Our decision to settle in Casa Grande was influenced by my husband's job in Stanfield. His commute is excellent from here, no traffic etc. We also lucked out regarding picking the right place to invest.
I would have made a mistake and avoided Casa Grande, if I'd found the info on the 'crime rate' here when we were relocating. The local police department is aggressively tackling the pockets of crime neighborhoods in town. http://www.ci.casa-grande.az.us/cgpd/missionstatement.php (broken link)
A big mall planned and executed by the developers of the Scottsdale mall is opening in less than six months at the intersection of I-10 and Florence Blvd in Casa Grande. There are also two new elementary schools, a new middle school and a new high school opening this fall.
Property values have appreciated significantly in the last two years but there are still good deals available.

Florence - good hearted people - out in the country - great place for an artist to be inseclusion on acreage - and close to Mesa, CAsa Grande inabout 40-50 minutes - nice quiet ride
450,000 for about 4 acres with a 2400 sq ft home w/ workshop
not selling this - know of it - just giving you an idea of what is in the direction

If you find that the Casa Grande, AZ area is of interest to you feel free to contact me. I have two 5 acres parcels just south of the Francisco Grande Golf Resort that I'd consider selling. But you need to know that it is currently in the $35K to $40K per acre range..

Thank you all for your feedback. I have however, decided that If I move to Arizona, Prescott is the area for me. So, let's try to keep this thread about Prescott. Not interested in other areas, so anyone who has pertinant information about the Prescott area only, please share. I like the town, I like the climate, and feel that it's reasonable to find a moderately priced, secluded piece of land within a reasonable commute from town. Any more information is greatly appreciated!

Good Luck finding "moderately priced, secluded piece of land" in the Prescott area! I'm living here in Prescott Valley (renting presently) looking for land or land and home/mobile that is affordable for the average person. Not happening.

Nowhere in AZ is affordable. The average AZ person has to be homeless and starve just so the Cali migrants can take over and overinflate the housing.
Watch out, TN might be next victim.
