Isn't that the truth. I keep saying people were moving to Arizona for the low home prices and now that that is gone, I think the draw is also gone. But the realtors are still saying that everyone moves here for the weather and the house prices will not change their minds just because houses are 2-3 times what they were a few years ago.

I don't think that the prices went up here so much because of Cali people relocating but because they were all buying houses to flip and "invest" in. Most have no intention of moving to Arizona, just getting rich from flipping. Pricing out locals and young families has never been a good plan and that's why prices are falling. Kingman, at least, has hundreds of new empty homes priced for the rich Californians that seem to have not appeared as planned. I think the next couple of years will be interesting, to say the least.

Why don't you start another thread with Williams in the title, you will probably get your answers. Williams is very small and doesn't have a lot there, that's about the extent of my knowledge from driving through.

Many towns are being infested with illegal aliens. They are bringing crime and decay to many small towns. Always check the demographics of an area.

Someone probably already covered this, but if I could have afforded it, I would have bought a few acres in Williamson Valley near Prescott.

Pettrix , you are one of the most negative people i have ever read of . i haul my own water , i do carry a handgun in my vehicle, i DO NOT lock my vehicles or my doors at night , not even when i go on a vacation . we do not have a police department . the miscreants know that punishment will come to them for their transgresions . transients we do not have( they prefer Preskit) . car jackings ? nada ! , robberies (had one 10 years ago) , muggings (nada) , rapes (nada). so i suppose it would be dull for you . Why don't you post your address at the local gas station in Ash Fork, and let them know the above? That will show your "faith" in what you stated.

As far as YOUR statistics go, you are wrong! I believe a more reliable source like the FBI would be better to use:

Violent crime index
1 (least) to 10 (most) National = 3 Ash Fork, AZ = 4
Property crime index
1 (least) to 10 (most) National = 3 Ash Fork, AZ = 5

Hmmmm.... That paints a different picture. Both violent crime and property crime indexes are HIGHER in Ash Fork than the national average. CLICK HERE FOR STATS

Actually, the 10 Safest Small Towns in Arizona are:

1. Colorado City
2. Oro Valley
3. Payson
4. Paradise Valley
5. Thatcher
6. Huachuca City
7. Clifton
8. Surprise
9. Gilbert
10. Chino Valley

Lastly, Williams has a REALLY HIGH crime rate. Like Ash Fork, Williams suffers from a HIGHER CRIME RATE than Arizona's average. The same data shows violent crime levels in Williams & Ash Fork tend to be much higher than Arizona's average level. WHY???

It has been shown that A LOT of the crime comes from those living in Ash Fork, who travel the short trip of 16 miles to Williams to commit crimes, only then to flee I-40 Westbound back into Ash Fork.

Not sure you are talking about Arizona. If it's mild in the winter, its HOT in the summer! North is cold and snowy in the winter. Central can be too. South is hot summers and mild winters. Close yet far to civilization isnt happening without a 2 hour ride. Good Luck! Try Hawaii!

Zonababe,if you look at my posting history you will see that I became a realtor after I posted that. You need to do your homework before you imply negative things about fellow board members. Petrix kept accusing me of being a realtor and I decided that it was not a bad idea to get my license. Within days after getting my licensed I registered on this board as a realtor.

Richard

Warren Jeffs probably threatened anybody that reported a crime (such as rape) with a life sentence in the local prison (meaning they wouldn't be allowed to leave the town).
