The best recommendation that I can give to save energy is that during the day set your a/c on manual and let it run without the thermostat.
if the settings on your thermostat read on/auto, set it to on, not on auto, this way the air will circulate constantly without the the compressor firing and it keeps the house cool with the setting you had the night before. when you get home turn it on auto and it would not have to cool the house as much.

Does anyone also have this issue? Has anyone tried the KVAR system? Has it saved you on your bills?

we are an installer located in the Buffalo, NY are, of the original manufacture's KVAR device. See: kvar.com
Yes, they do work and reduce kilowatt hours and in turn save money. You will save on wasted energy produces by inductive load motors such as air conditioning, refrigeraters, pumps like that found in a pool, hot tub or sump.
Be sure your installer is using this manufacturers device as it is guaranteed, recognized by Cleener & Greener, RoHS, NSAS tested, UL listed and more.

Thank you for that info. We may get it next year depending on how everything in life goes.
