But, they are also VERY CONCERNED about the new storms - with the lightening, coming in.
I talked with friends in Payson a little while ago - they are talking about closing the forest - limiting camping (if they allow camping at all), to the organized campgrounds ONLY with NO campfires. NOTE: This is not for certain - the Forest Service is going to wait a day or so to make the final decision.

It will rain most of the weekend, this year. But camping is still fun with the rain. Lynx Lake is nice. Try there. I'm not going this year (have no one else to go with and I don't have camping gear this year anyway), but try it.

Looks like it might rain, only a 30% chance and the radar is looking pretty good, I guess I will decide tomorrow afternoon.

Looks like the rain will let up in Prescott around 2pm tomorrow, I plan on waking up around noon and I will see if the weather changed.
So is anyone familiar with the Ponderosa Park area? I am taking that down to Wolf Springs Rd and looking for spots there.
I am a bit confused, I thought you could camp anywhere on a national forrest for free, but prescott seems to have areas set up along the roads?

We ended up going up Sunday night, we expected it to be packed, but there was little traffic on the way there, and when we got down to the "dispersed campsites" only about 1/3 of them were even occupied by the time we got up to Prescott (4pm).
We took the back way home, the 89 south down through wickenburg to the 74 carefree to the I17, if it didn't take so long to get through the mountains I would go this way more often.
We met some really cool people at a restaurant in "Peeples Valley" never even heard of the place, but I had a guy sit and tell me the history of the place for a good 30 minutes.
