No advice other than writing or calling your local representative, Captain.

I have a number of friends involved in rental properties and, due to similar fiascos, avoid Section 8 rentals like the plague.

Good Luck

Best advice you will ever get.
What type of people did you expect when you went section 8?
You learned a very expensive lesson my friend.

Never rent to Sec8, I've been painting apts & rentals for the last 10 yrs and I have never seen such destruction as when they're evicted. They seem to do it out of spite or just don't care. As for your problems, If sec8 was in charge of the eviction it looks like they would be the responsible party for the damage?? I've been left high & dry also, painted close to 15 apts for one complex (being pd on a 30 basis) and never saw one dime from them. Had to file a complaint with the Gov't, I think they lost thier license or something. I'd contact a lawyer if I were you.

No - it was not discontinued.

And, Section 8 is actually a Federal program. Sec 8 was actually expanded a few years back -- Sec 8 qualified tenants can, under certain circumstances, use their voucher for DPA (down payment assistance) to purchase a home.

Glad they're out; I bet the neighbors were happy when you put section 8 tenants in their neighorhood. That's par for the course - people don't value anything not earned. Sorry about the monetary loss.

I think that is unfair to label all people who are on section 8 as bad potential tenants. I think that all you have to do is a background check on people and talk to the previous landlords to find out if they will take good care of the home. You take the chance of anyone destroying your home when you rent it out wether they are on section 8 or not. This is discriminatory views and stereotypical behavior not to mention unfair. There are hard working good people out there who are on Section 8. The fact that the non-custodial parent isn't doing what they should be doing for their children is one of the reasons people qualify for the housing and that makes it very hard for them to find a place to live for their family when people view the program in this manner.

Too bad Arizona can't abolish section 8. That would sure clean up some neighborhoods.
