Default Water Hauling question-Dolan Springs area

I'm just looking at my different options. We bought 10 acres in Gateway Acres YEARS ago. Basicly this is just a bit north of the Pierce Ferry turn off, but on the West side of 93. Its up the dirt road where the old cars are in that old towing yard.

Anyway, obviously there is no services up there (power/water/sewer). So, I need to ask questions if anyone is from Dolan Springs.

Water. I never had to haul water before. Is there a place in Dolan Springs to fill a water tank? If not, where is the closest place? Anyone have a number/name?

Sewer, anyone have a name/number for a septic pumping service in Dolan Srings that might service that area? Or at least a big shovel I could borrow?

I can get by with a generator/solar, so I'm not too worried there. I can always do satalite internet so you guys won't have to miss my ugly mug.

ANY and all info you can think of will help more than you know. Thank you.

There is a place to buy water downtown dolan. Near the only bank in town. Coin operated. And a place off of 19th st on Ocatillo. Cheaper than paying a hauler, although they are good guys and pretty reasonable. I like those neat old junkyards. They have some great vehicles. A bit of history, there.

See ya
This was posted Feb 2008 and was in a Golden Valley post. Peggy Anne (or anyone else in Dolan Springs), is this about right? If not, do you know the rate?

We have the electrical figured out. Also have most everything else figured,,,,,,, just needing H2O info.

Looks like I might be a hardcore desert rat come next spring.

75 Gallons for 25 cents? Sounds a little on the cheap side, but I am not familiar with buying water in bulk like this.

So this is the water you would be using for your entire home?

People have to get used to new water habits. I use my greywater from laundry, and dishes to flush my RV toilet. (hooked to a septic). I take navy showers. My laundry is washed by hand in a tub. No family. I like the spartan life, to a point. I hate to waste water. Rainbarrels are handy, but be sure to keep a wire over them to keep animals from drowning. I use that water for washing the dust from my porch, and watering the little flowers during dry spells. Also, I water the wildlife. The swamp cooler uses some water for a month, or two, but it's an indoor unit. The desert will teach us a great deal.

Sounds cheap to me too, however, it's pumped directly from a well, I'm sure. So you aren't paying all the fees, water line taxes, ect that you would be in a city.

The more people have to do to get the water to your home,,,,, the more you pay. So, as an opposite,,, the less they do, the less you pay.

Default Water-Water Haul-Delivery

Water is still very inexpensive if you 'haul it'. I have only been in area for about 2 years, but was looking at property with and without water. I did find a nice acre with house and on city water, at a good price, so took it. My water bill runs about $32.00 mo. Water company just had a, (really needed) monthly price increase of $10.00. It "was" at $25.00 base. So I consider it still reasonable.

But if you do haul your own, (the fill tank downtown, and I think another at the rural water dist out on 21st-23rd st area) I believe water company may have raised rate a small amount to maybe .35 cents per 75gal. The local water haul companies will deliver on a monthly basis at 1000gal drops for about, (I believe current) is $25-35.00. If you happen to have a smaller tank on your property, ie; 500-750gal, you still will be charged the full delivery price of 1000g. Or say, that when they come to drop, and you have used only 500g out of a storage container, same applies, you will be charged for the full run of 1000g.
