Hmm about 60% of Arizona's population resides in Maricopa County, so the fact that 62% of AZ millionare households are also there does not surprise me... in fact I would have thought that number would be slightly higher.

There is definitely money here in the valley of the sun.

I agree. I don't think the number is suspicious at all. I, too, would've thought that an even higher percentage of the millionaires that reside in AZ, would reside in Maricopa County...we have Paradise Valley, North Scottsdale, Ocotillo, Biltmore, Estrella Mountain Ranch, North Glendale, Ahwatukee, etc...

Looks like King County was #10. I was surprised to see San Fran Bay area was not on the list considering you have to be a millionare to afford the houses.

I'm sure King County would rank higher on billionaire list. Below links have info on billionaires by state.

San Fran has plenty of wealthy residents but that particular poll doesn't take into account the value of your home. If it did then I'd be willing to bet that San Fran would be near the top.

The 1950s house I sold in the East Bay area when I moved to Phoenix is worth about $450K right now. My parent's house (nicer, 1980s) is about $600K. The house across the street from them just sold for $750K but it's over an acre.

If you include your home value, being a millionaire doesn't mean anything anymore.

I think there are a lot more millionaires than that in Maricopa County - especially with the way housing has appreciated!

this article is quite misleading. Maricopa County is also the fourth largest county in the US, so its not surprising to be number 4
