Default Peoria vs. Cave Creek area

I am a "snowbird" looking at purchasing in the Cave Creek/Carefree area but am also considering the Valenci/Peoria area. I would appreciate hearing from folks that are familiar with these areas and receiving your advice. The residence would be a second residence used for vacations with a view to a future retirement home.

Thank you

Are you looking for a walkable neighborhood where you don't have to drive for every errand or do you want to be away from it all?

Do you have a preference for what part of town you are in? Some people like to take short trips to places like Flagstaff or Payson and like to be set up for that.

Both areas would work fine, do you have any special qualifications, such as being near certain areas of town or anything?

Cave Creek/Carefree are beautiful towns with homes that are certainly on larger lots, many are not fenced. I would say CC/Carefree have fewer ammenities than Peoria does; you will drive a little farther for grocery stores, Costco, Target, etc. The positives is that they are within a reasonable distance from larger cities, while being close to nature and make you feel like you're in a little part of the west with true cowboys, working ranches, etc. Peoria, especially North Peoria, would put you closer to amenities and closer to retirement communities if that is what you seek. Peoria will also put you closer to freeways.

If you are 55 (and some under 55 are allowed) you might want to check out the Trilogy/Vistancia in Peoria. There are a number of Canadian snow birds buying in that community. It sits on a beautiful 5 star golf course and has a restaruant and full gym with an indoor pool/spa. It also has a massage/spa business inside called the Aleva Spa, which my daughter loves. Go to their web site My Trilogy Life - Welcome
