Gilbert Info?
I'm just trying to get some info about Gilbert,(other than no skiing ) my brother's friend owns a house there and would give me a screaming deal on renting the master bedroom. Is it a family town like Mesa? Is there stuff to do? I'm a 24 y.o. Male looking for an exciting place surrounded by people my own age, of course I think Tempe would suit me the best but I was just curious about Gilbert and I don't know if I could pass this good deal up.

I can tell you, because I live in Gilbert, that you would much prefer to be in Gilbert - we are close to all highways and amentities - to get you to anywhere
Tempe is 15 min, Scottsdale is 15-20, Mesa is 5 min
There are 190,000 in Gilbert vs Mesa 450,000
Gilbert is newer, cleaner - has great fast foods, movies, parks, restaurants, shopping, golfing, indoor sports, tennis
ALso this is a very young town - people here are much younger than Mesa - which has quite a few retirement neighborhoods - I think the average age for Gilbert is 34 go to Sperlings Best Places and you can get all the stats

thanks deem, someone told me Mesa isn't the best place for a young single fun-seeker I'll definitely keep it mind, are there any community colleges around Gilbert? I was interested in Tempe because I don't know many people in Phoenix so I wanted to get into the social scene and meet new people but I'm afraid it would be way too expensive and overcrowded.

ASU east, Chandler Gilbert Community college, MCC at Red Mountain in Mesa.
Who said Mesa was more fun? I guess it depends on what you like to do. My kids 24 and 19 have different personalities. My 19 year old prefers Tempe wild parties, fast girls crazy crap and that's where he lives. My 24 year old is fine in Gilbert, he likes to shoot pool, go tubing hang out with friends plays cards etc.

Tempe is the University town - and it is great - for all activities your age - the drive is maybe 15 min - to get to Mill Avenue
all the pubs, entertainment- living in Tempe is much to be desired - but Mill Avenue is the place
As for Gilbert - there is Chandler Community College and Mesa Community COllege and both are about 10 min from Gilbert (unless your friend lives in the far south of Gilbert) that can take 20 min to get to either
I went Chandler Comm for night to take computer courses and really liked the campus

Yeah, I think Gilbert is a little less wild than Tempe. Since ASU is in Tempe, alot of younger people want to live there and party. But there is alot of fun things to do in Gilbert too and you can find quite a few people your age to hang out with.

Gilbert is a "family friendly" town. Not sure a single person who wants to go out (and not have to drive 20 miles) would like it there. It's mainly families with kids. I've been down there once and wouldn't go back, as I am single and it's way to slow down there.
But, you may like it. It's dirt cheap to live down there. If you're bored you can eventually move to Tempe or Scottsdale. I would recommend looking at the complexes on the edge of Old Town.
