Job offer in Bullhead City
I just got a job offer in Bullhead City. I currently live in Traverse City, MI which is surrounded by water from the great lakes. But terribly cold in the winter. I'm definately ready for a change and I have a close friend that lives out there. But I've never been there and don't know much about it other than a few pictures I've seen online. What is there to do? I love the outdoors, such as mountain biking, kayaking, running, etc. Also I am 26 and single and would like to know if there are any places in or around bullhead city where there are some good places to hang out and meet other singles? What's the town like?

Beware of BHC's brutally hot summers............otherwise; it is not a bad place IMHO.

I am rather partial to that area, but we had to come the other direction due to work reasons for the hubby. You have the Colorado River, not sure about kayaking, but some lakes (reservoirs) too. I remember a lot of jet ski rental places on the river and maybe some canoe trip tours or rentals. I'm not sure what's in Bullhead for the youngers, but Laughlin is right around the corner...

Of course you can kayak. You have the whole Colorado River. There are some nearby wildlife preserves that have excellent kayaking and you won't be inundated with power boats. Mountain biking, hiking, it's virtually unlimited. However, as the 'bear put it, the heat can be brutal during the summer. Go over the hill 40 minutes to Kingman, and it's a lot cooler and there are excellent places to hike and bike here. In the winter, Bullhead will be the place to be however. Personally, I consider this whole area to be an outdoors-person mecca.
Nightlife I'm not sure about as that's not my thing (any more). Probably a few bars, and that's about it. Head into Laughlin and you have all the Casinos, although I haven't a clue what it's like to socialize in that setting. You could of course shoot into Vegas and have every kind of social setting imaginable I reckon.
Jobs are the probably the biggest battle in this area. If you've got a good one, I think you can be very happy in Bullhead.

I do not think you will make it out in Bullhead City, especially coming from a cold climate. I have been there, and it is too hot for me to take, and I was born in Phoenix. It is downright brutal, with 125 degree highs in the summer. I found a rather interesting thread on this forum, with lots of information on Bullhead City from someone who lives there. They hate it. I posted the link below. Overall, I do not recommend moving there.

Several people that work in Bullhead area commute from Golden Valley or Kingman. So keep that in mind as a possibility.

That is a vicious commute though dealing with the almost 3,000' change in altitude within 15 minutes via Hwy 68..........I did just that for about two weeks between Kingman and BHC and my ears hated it (popping, etc).
Although in all fairness; the distance (47 miles) was not bad otherwise---------just the above mentioned sudden changes in elevation.

Yep but I have a friend who used to work in Mohave valley and did that commute daily for several years. He has since moved on to another place in Bullhead and bought a place in Golden valley. He says that is a much better commute.

Kingman S of Andy Devine to Ft Mohave (RVMC area) was a 'bastard' of a drive via Hwy 68...........it would have been closer in distance had I taken Rte 66 through Oatman but, as you know, it is treacherous on the GV side (many sharp turns with dropoffs )
