Work from home in Arizona-but where?
If you were moving in from out of state-and your job came with you, what part of Arizona would you live? My only requirement is an internet connection.
Looking for something that has good balance-such as cost of living, schools, etc. I have mostly been to the Phoenix area and love it, but have only been there during the summer so I haven't been able to enjoy the mild winters I hear about there. The other areas I have been-whether north or south, have been appealing to me as well. If you could pick anywhere in the state, with real estate value being one of your main criteria, where would it be?

I work from home, but I do need to travel about once a month. I live at I-17 and Carefree Hwy., just inside the Phoenix city limits, and my boss was a little surprised when he saw the mileage I rack up just going to and from the airport or occasional meetings downtown. If you really don't have to go anywhere for your job, you can live anywhere you want. Still, I'd want to be near some places where I can get office supplies and computer tech help when I need them. I do all my own vehicle maint. work, but it's gonna be a real headache to take one to a shop one day when the job is beyond my abilities. If you really live in the sticks, this can be a serious problem.

I'd say somewhere in the Phoenix area would be best. Right now prices are low on housing and should go up. Plenty to do close by and if you research the school system, you can pick a good location. Good luck.

I work at home in Casa Grande, about 1/2 way between Phoenix and Tucson. I chose to get away from the cold and snow of any sort so that is why we are here. It kind of depends on what you want for weather, as you get to pick here. The good thing is if I ever miss the snow, it is just a few hours away....and I am sure I would waste my gas and kick myself if I did ever do that, because I would get back in the car, turn around and come home... Working at home, you have your pick of where to live, needing the internet connection, which is not too hard to do

Great advice everyone. I work for an insurance company who has all their paperwork imaged so it eliminates the need to work near their home office. I am currently working remotely in the midwest but have always liked Arizona and am thinking before my son gets into kindergarten, it would be a good time to move. I am thinking I should really take advantage of what working remotely offers.
I guess my next step is checking out Greatschools and go from there.
I too want to get away from the cold here-we just had frost, I think this is the earliest I remember seeing frost....makes me leery to think about what is going to happen once winter actually gets here. I definitely will still want to drive somewhere to see it once a year-I'm just not wanting to be living in it for 4-5 months every year anymore.

I do medical transcription, so thankful I can take my job wherever I go as long as I have internet. When we moved down here I would work from the motel when we stopped, then I visited my son in El Paso until hubby got to AZ, and was able to work there

I work from home full time as a Project Manager for a financial company. I use the vpn connection on my laptop as well as a vpn hard-phone that logs in a telephone switch back in Texas.
We choose the I-17 and Carefree Highway of Phoenix too. My wife has family in Scottsdale that we wanted to be within a 30 minute drive of. We really like the scenery up here and got a really good deal on our house, 3700 sq ft @ $250k.
Zillow.com currently has the house at $249k market value, so prices are still way down up here.

I live in Peoria which is in the NW valley just 6 miles from lake pleasant and close to the sporting events. I moved here from the Desert Ridge/ Scottsdale area in 05. You get more home for your money and get away from the traffic. Now days you get twice as much as I did in 05. Moderator cut: need more than 10 posts to make specific recs
