lake havasu, Fort Mohave, Yuma, Tucson ? where to move
Hi,
We cannot make up our mind were to move to.... we live know in Montana and are sick of the long winters (9-10 months of winter gets old) and are planning on moving to arizonia as soon as our son gets out of school in 2 years.
Our perfect area would be somewhere where the population is below 200.000 people (we are not one for big population, we did not like phoenix area to crowded!) a safe crime area, we would like some area were you can get some kind of job, and some area which is close to a lake or somewhere you can go boating (we love to go boating and fishing)
We have liked Lake havasu area but the homes seem a little higher even know than some other areas, but we have heard that Lake havasu job market is horrible (are you able to get any kind of job here?)
We also did look at Fort Mohave area and Bullhead area, which looks nice not as clean as Lake Havasu but looks like the job market may be little better.
The question I have for everyone is what everyone thinks of Lake Havsau, Bullhead, Fort Mohave, Yuma and Tucson.
We have never been to Yuma or Tucson, do they have any lakes nearby ? and are the clean safe cities...

Have you given Kingman / Golden Valley area a look yet? As property owners in Montana without year around access we are keeping home base here and travel North for the couple of months of summer weather. Or that is the current plan. right now we go up for a few weeks only.

Having lived in Lake Havasu City for a total of 14 years, now living in Prescott, AZ area, Lake Havasu is a wonderful place to live. However; I just cannot tolerate the extreme heat in the summer. Shopping in Havasu City has improved. If you need to work, you might consider outlying areas of Phoenix to live in. There are some small towns off of I-17 just north of Phoenix. Also, another town is Surprise. There are several lakes around Phoenix. The drawback of living in Havasu is the hospital is terrible and if you need to use a major airport you have to drive to Phoenix or Vegas. It really is inconvenient. What I like about Prescott area is that it is only 2 hours away from Phoenix and it has Costco, Sam's. Tues morning, Ross Dress for less, Target, and it has restaurants that you can find in the city. Olive Garden is most everyones favorite. It all depends on your preferance. Golden Valley is mostly all mobile homes on large lots but you are not far from the river or Kingman to shop. My suggestion, is just rent and move to the location that has the most jobs and go from there.

Lake Havasu is a great place to live but bring lots of money because its hard to make any here. Any job you do find is poor paying. Kingman is another choice but im not sure on the jobs there. Good luck on any move you decide on. I think its tough everywhere right now.

why do you want to move to az? i know the weather is cold as hell but it is beautiful and you wont get that here. all i can say is i would not recommend yuma at all. its ugly, hot as hell for 5months out of the year. there are no jobs we are #2 in the nation for highest unemployment rate,we have business going under left and right, there is crime i am sure alot more than your use to, i suggest tucson. its better than most of the towns if you can afford it you should check out sedona and flagstaff. there its really nice

Yes jobs can be found in Havasu the unemployment rate for Havasu is 7%.
The pay is not good at all, you would be lucky to get a job paying more then $8 an hr. If you want to work it can be found, just not good pay. The bonus is the cost of a house is half of what is was a few years ago. I would think Bullhead would be the same as far as jobs. And yes it gets super hot
our temps are still in the 90s.... I love it!!!!!
