Az is okay, Ive lived there and it has its upsides and its downsides, like any other state would. Ive seen the Grand Canyon and personally, though its amazing, they charge way too much to go see a big hole in the ground but its been a tourist attraction forever. I prefer the Northern parts of Az where you get snow and cooler weather, in comparison to the southern parts where its a freaking oven for 7-8 mos of the year.

Most people find the heat overwhelming, especially those who move in the summer. I've lived here for more than twenty years, and while I'm accustomed to the heat, my father claims it's just baked my brains into a rock and I don't know any better.

Most people where? I don't find anybody in Kingman for example who complains about the heat. And certainly not Flagstaff. One should not attempt such generalizations in a state with such diverse geography and climate as Arizona.

I don't mind the summer heat, sure the middle of the day it's a little unbearable, but not enough to stop me from going outside, as long as my car has A/C!

Let me clarify-most people in the state that I've come in contact with over the past fifteen years, from Nogales to Flagstaff, express strong dislike of the heat, and bemusement of anyone else's willingness to live in it. I heard one gentleman compare his anticipation for the Valley summer to that of seeing a colon/rectal specialist. Personally, I like the heat.

Wasn't the Halloween weather wonderful? Perfect night for running around in costumes. I think the band of neighborhood kids came by two or three times, though. I kept seeing this white ninja and his zombie buddy...

People tend to forget that our heat index in the summer is no worse than many places Wash DC down south. And DC has foul winters as well.

That's so strange, as I've had exactly the opposite experience. I can't recall anybody in northern AZ such as Kingman, Seligman, Williams or especially Flagstaff ever complain about the heat. Bullhead, Havasu, Phoenix, and Yuma, yes. But northern AZ in high deserts? Never.

I did find that odd, yes, but they seemed to be complaining mostly when they had to leave their more comfortable climate and come into the Valley in high summer.

My cats have turned into thermometers. They have access to the backyard via a kennel that run along the side of the house with passage through an open window. If the temperature gets below seventy at night, the two adults crawl under my (many) blankets and snuggle all night. Or until I roll over on them.

I almost dislike the stuffy 90+ degree non refreshing 5:00 am morning temperatures more than anything. Being an outdoors person, I'm very grumpy in Phoenix in the summer.
