Arizona is beautiful, anyone agree?
I have lived in these states: Arizona, California, Texas, and New Mexico. Arizona is simply the most beautiful (natural aesthetic beauty) state that I have ever been in, no wonder why the grand canyon is there. When I was up near Flagstaff, AZ I thought I could literally touch the stars, the sky up there appeared so black and the stars appeared so magical and bright.

Agree completely. Now brace yourself for the onslaught of the midwesterners who will tell you that Arizona is ugly. In truth, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Run barefoot through the Cholla
Would you care to run barefoot with me through the cholla? Honestly, if there is one thing they should warn visitors about in Arizona, it is cholla cactus. We east-coasters are completely ignorant of the cholla .
Fortunately, I have never had a close encounter . . . but I did not learn about the unique qualities of this lovely plant until I had been in Arizona for close to a year. Meanwhile, I'm running all through the Arizona wild country shooting photos in flip-flops and shorts . . . well actually, not. But I was blithely unaware of what can happen if you get too close to a cholla. Otherwise, I must agree that Arizona is an amazingly beautiful state!

I remember showing my home office view in Rio Rico to my sister. I asked her if anyone in her multi-billion Dollar corporation had views that good. She said, probably not. Ironically, that house set me back 47,500.

I agree with the OP. Arizona is gorgeous.
Oh, and by the way - I AM a cholla victim (ouch! ouch! ouch! ouch! - I swear I NEVER touched it, it just jumped at me).

Ah, Teddy Bear Cholla. So soft and pretty. Go ahead, hug one.

I am from Phoenix, but I have to ask have you ever driven through Oregon and Washington?

Hopefully that will not happen. I have lived in the midwest, and it is flat and ugly. The most beautiful state I have seen in pictures would be Juneau, Alaska. However, in person that I have actually seen would go to Oregon and Washington hands down.

When the weather is good, there is no more beautiful state than Washington. Of course the key phrase there is "when the weather is good". Sadly, that "good" weather only lasts about 3 months out of 12. Best description of Seattle I've ever heard is: "Living in Seattle is like being married to a incredibly beautiful woman - who always has a headache!"
Truer words have never been spoken.

Ah... astronomy! Arizona has 32 observatories throughout the state, and cities and towns in and around these observatories become part of the Arizona Dark Skies Ordinance! Flagstaff also has a Dark Skies Coalition. Flagstaff is the World's FIRST International Dark Skies City. So much sky to observe... so much sky to absorb... we should call them ASORBatories!

Yep... one has to be vewy, vewy careful when they "hug" a cholla. One of my aunts did not hug one of these "cuddlies" carefully, and she lost part of a finger! Ouch!
