I'm sure they would too. However, there's a very good reason why they're recruiting out of town.

It may be that the OP is taking one of the "pay off your loans" jobs in areas w/o necessary services. If that is the case, they would not likely be there more than a few years. For underserved areas, the Feds forgive your student loans at so much per year. The areas are underserved b/c there are few qualified professionals working there.

However, you may fair better in Tucson or even Flagstaff for medical jobs.

We have worked and lived, on the Navajo Nation (Tuba City). It was a good experience.

I don't why you think (or so it seem) that White (non Indians) should not work on the Rez

Ah Josh? Members of the tribes call themselves Indians. Are you suggesting that they are ignorant?

No they don't, they call themselves native americans, or in most cases their specific tribe name.

No Josh - "native Americans" is a politically correct term -

Then, there is the IHS - Indian Health Service

Josh - we were on a Rez - the Navajo Nation. We also traveled on the Hopi Reservation. They will refer to themselves as Navajos or Hopi's but, they also refer to themselves as Indians.

Oh yeah - don't forget about "Indian Fry Bread"

I have never met a person from the res who called themselves a Indian, most are offended by it. One of my coworkers confirmed this, she grew up on the res near Page.

Well the US Federal Government calls them Indians, so that's good enough for me. http://www.bia.gov/

BTW, you spelled surprise wrong.
