Cool Find your spot

I found this while searching the net and it's spot on! If you are completely honest, it'll tell you the ideal place to live. My top 6:

1) Las Vegas, NV (love the city, wouldn't mind living there at all)
2) Phoenix, AZ (well...I live here so it's accurate)
3) Los Angeles, CA (also a great area but I don't think I'd want to live there)
4) Tampa, FL (too humid for me)
5) Houston, TX (also a city I love, probably my 2nd or 3rd choice in a place to settle)
6) San Diego, CA (another great city, I enjoy driving there)

I think its pretty easy to rig the results if you go into the survey with a certain place in mind. And the #1 most important factor in relocation is not even on the survey: jobs. My initial results were pretty much all in the western US (I said I wanted mild/colder climate and voted high on outdoor recreation, but low on rivers/lakes). Nothing in CA or AZ made the list, though.

1. Albuquerque, NM (Actually, I would like to live there, but seems like high crime and not that many jobs).
2. Denver, CO (That's where I'm from, and where I might go back in a year)
3. Reno, NV (To visit-- sure, but to live?)
4. Charleston, WV (Don't know what jobs are there, if any)
5. Colorado Springs, CO (A great town-- if you happen to be in the military/ defense industry)
6. Santa Fe, NM (Beautiful place-- but insanely expensive, and no jobs)
7. Boise, ID (Ok, makes sense, but I'd pick CO over ID any day)
8. Frederick, MD (I do love Maryland, the DC area, but Frederick?)
9. Salt Lake City, UT (If I was LDS I'm sure it would probably be paradise)
10. Las Vegas, NV (I've always thought about living there)

Then I removed the regional preferences to find suggestions that are not in the western US (I already knew I like Denver, etc). I got:

1. Hartford, CT
2. Little Rock, AR (fashion capital? give me a break!)
3. Charleston, WV
4. Fayetteville, AR (maybe if you worked for W**-mart)
5. Cincinnati, OH (maybe I should investigate that city some more)
6. Knoxville, TN (jobs?)
7. Carlisle, PA (I don't even know where that is!)
8. New Haven, CT (maybe I'm secretly a New Englander)
9. Frederick, MD
10. Providence, RI

So if I want to try living in a different region of the country, I should look at either New England or jump straight down to Appalachia Go figure??!!

I've used that site for years...it's great. A good compliment to this site, I think. Their "city guides" are a bit on the marketing fluffy side, but I think the quiz is pretty thorough in gathering preferences!

I've used this site as well and, frankly, none of the towns on the list really appeal to me. I keep getting places in hellhole Arkansas and Louisiana even when I never include the Southeast into the equation. Most of the places I get are in New Mexico, which is fine, but I prefer Colorado. In all the times I've taken this quiz, I've never gotten a Colorado city! But, I must admit that Boise looks like a good alternative. I like that it's isolated with a great climate (very little snow and relatively warm in the winter). I suspect this site is the product of someone who marketed to various chambers of commerces to create a website that would foster interest in localities that thought they could use the extra web presence, nothing more.

I am a total "fish out of water" according to that website living here in Phoenix. I doubt PHX would be in my top 500, LOL! I think they should weight humidity higher or something because that is what scares me about living somewhere else. Yuck!

I specifically put "strongly disagree" with the nightlife question, yet it still gave Vegas as my #1. Must be a few bugs left in the software. I don't like Vegas. Although it did come close with a few locations on the "left" coast. Kalifornica needs a few conservatives like me to rattle their cages. I volunteer if anyone wants to donate to my relocation.

I was having fun and was anxious to see my results and then I got to the "Would you like third party partners to send you more detailed info?" and "Please give us all your personal information so that we know you're a real person" (like no, it's my cat playing around on my computer keyboard). Sorry, but I don't like being "tracked" or having my name given to advertisers.
