Moving to Casa Grande
Hi everyone. My family is moving to Casa Grande sometime before November- we have two boys (3 and 8 mo). I am looking for any advice or information on the town. Are there good peditricians, schools, etc. I was there only once before and don't remember too much about the town. I am under the impression that it is a relatively small town that is growing, like most of Arizona. Are there any stores there or do you have to travel far to shop. We are moving from PA so I am use to packing a lunch to go grocery shopping, I am hoping that it won't be so in Casa Grande. At any rate we are very excited about the move, we absolutley love the state of Arizona and can't wait to make the move. Thanks for the help.

There is only one elementary school district in Casa Grande, and the high school district services more than just Casa Grande; it serves many of the other very outlying communities out there. I would go to www.greatschools.net to see how the district is rated.
To be honest, I wouldn't guess that it's rated very high, only because it's been an outlying community for so very long...
Casa Grande is very small and very much an older town. google city of casa grande and it will tell you about the parks and other things the town will have to offer you.
From what I recall, there is a large outlet mall right nearby, off the 10 freeway, but for right now I think you'll be a good 20-30 minutes from any major malls (Chandler Mall) or any major retail other than a local grocery store or WalMart.

I moved here about a year and a half ago from california. its hot but beautiful. The houses are so cheap too. There are good doctors and great schools. Its a small town but big enough to have fun.

I too moved here from California just over 1 yr ago. So much growth has happened in just the short time I've been here. No need to take lunch when going grocery shopping. New schools have been built & continue being built due to the growth. A new regional mall complete with multi screen theater will be opening just before you move here (I'm so excited) & it has been considered a retirement town for a long time but I see it moving towards a family community everyday. But, be prepared....IT'S HOT!! - Not so bad in November but jsut wait til next summer. Oh yeah, can't wait for the Monsoon to start too, it happens every summer =-)

I moved out here from Phx about 8 years ago for two reasons. One, it was related to work, and 2ndly, I dont like cities. Guess in a small way, C G is turning into one though. And there really was nothing much out here back then.
I question why they are building a new mall though, right across the highway from an old one that had gone out of business years ago, they just werent making enough money to stay open maybe. Looks like a ghost town there.
Though there still isnt a lot to do here, maybe a couple of redneck bars, most of the entertainment is out in surrounding cities. Movies, clubs, concerts, shows, etc.
Hopefully the growth will slow down a little right now, everything happened so fast and now even many homes are just not selling because there are a lot of people who just cant afford Calif priced homes on a Casa Grande income. The work force out here isnt much unless youre a dr, most people have to commute if you want something more than working in retail or food.
Other than that, dust storms and monsoon season make good topics out here, lol.

Ive posted on this or about this before. I just moved here (Casa) from OR a month ago... but originally from Chicago (48 years) and its EXACTLY what I wanted. Small but not too small..... growing (means new retail) and will soon need really nothing I think in the way of retail. Except for some nicer resturants but those will come also.
Its beautiful here..... I love it..... hot yes.... dry heat YES YES YES... hell I tinted the windows in my car in the garage and it was 106 outside. I love it...and cant wait for the monsoon season to start. I work from home so im fortunate to not have to commute. I live out in the outter edge on an acre plus and love the little dust tornados, mountian views, great sunsets and watching the sun come up in the mornig while I drink my coffee on my patio.
I will say it sure the hell is sunny here. I wanted sunny (OR has NONE, lol) and in the month ive been here ive only seen clouds like 4 days. Again... I love it , maybe not for everyone but it is for me.
Man I sound like a commerical for Casa Grande, LMAO.
