Default Bullhead City, AZ

Hey folks:

I currently live in Grand Rapids, MI and am ready to relocate elsewhere. I am looking to live somewhere in Arizona. I came across Bullhead City which looks like a nice city from what I've seen. Now I know that I don't want to live in Phoenix because of the high crime rates overthere. We are mainly looking to relocate because of nasty winter weather which we do not enjoy and our state has the highest unemployment rate in the country. What are some things I should know about Arizona and Bullhead City?

It's windy there. I've seen 127F in the Summer. There are lots of mobile homes in BHC.

I am aware of the fact that it could get that hot in the summer, but I also know they have like little to no winter weather like weather as well. I do want to know about how much one would pay for a 1 or 2 bedroom place a month?

I don't know why you would select Bullhead City out of all the small towns to choose from. If you don't want to live in the metro areas (and I'm not sure what you mean by all the crime in Phoenix, unless you have been taking in the kidnapping hysteria the national media is promoting, which affects no one who is not trafficking in aliens or drugs) there are other areas.

Are you looking for a place to work, or retire? That makes a difference. The economy in Bullhead is based on the river tourism and the casinos across the river in Laughlin. Not much else there to get excited about, except extreme summer weather. There are other locations, including Kingman, which is larger and not far from BHC, but has a lot more to offer and a more temperate climate, and areas like Sierra Vista, to the southern part of the state, that also has a very nice climate, or Prescott, which is larger and more centrally located, but is a very pleasant place, and probably where I'd be living, in Arizona, if I could move anywhere and it didn't matter that I couldn't take my job with me.

I don't want to live in a huge city, but rather a small town to a small city setting. Phoenix also has too many people as well. We are mainly relocating because we hate winter and have had enough of it! I will checkout Kingman and the other places though. I'm planning on moving in like September/October.

You better go there and spend a few nights in a motel before you make that kind of a move. Don't throw away your snow shovel either.

I think that Steve meant that they might want to move BACK to where they are moving from.

If I were in your shoes, I'd just move to Nevada. You're mighty close anyway, and you will benefit from no personal state income tax by living in Nevada - AND you won't have to drive so far to a casino! LOL
