throwing money at border issues will help only a little....the roots of this immigration/smuggling issue are very deep and get into the economies of many countries, family support, politics, addiction, the whole thing.....smug politicians who self-righteously demand action at the border are mostly pandering to their voting constituents....remember DeConcini's drug balloons??!!...and this recent electronic fence thing was shelved, I believe, after billions were spent and nothing to show for it....most would agree that these new metal fences are insignificant, evidently....

anybody for legalizing the stuff??!!....there is some valid argument to be made for that!!.....

much more complicated than most of us realize
But you really have no evidence that in this case the killer was smuggling drugs - if he was, then it wouldn't be so likely for him to go back into Mexico, he would have continued north.

The problem is that anything and anyone can easily cross the unguarded border. He may have just finished killing someone back home and was making his escape, or he just intended to come and get in on the next amnesty they're promising them and wasn't about to let anyone get in his way.

My idea works real well when the economy is booming...not so well when it is in a slump.

Maybe we should only allow as many as want in when the economy can handle it.

Any ideas?
If and when there is ever a real shortage of workers, there are already legal temporary guest worker programs, H2A visas - but they require legal wages be paid and an attempt to hire Americans first which is why so many ignore that kind of visas.

Guest worker visas can be limited to a time period - 3 or 4 months for harvest or some other temporary period and then the worker goes back home.

That would do more for stability and building up of their own home country, better than millions simply abandoning it - because that isn't turning out well at all.

All we do is talk about the drug people and it keeps getting worse. If everyone who cared about their children marched peacefully in Washington D.C. and asked Pres.OBAMA to come out and listen to us......it would work.
Whoever said, earlier about US TROOPS coming home to protect America was right.
But the time for talking was over long ago........long time ago.
