In reality, Ponderosa . . . we cannot.

Considering the radical hate-filled nutcases throughout the world, only individuals with something to hide or are living a life of DENIAL are against a National ID Card.

That's all I've ever had to do in any state I've moved to. Some states even let me keep my old DL but punched a hole in it to make it useless. I guess they figure that if you got a DL in the first place...no matter where...that you've already proven citizenship. I got my first DL in Oregon in 1961 and I know I didn't show my birth certificate because I didn't have one at the time. I did have a SS card but don't recall if I used that or not. Too many years ago to remember.

If it comes down to having a national ID card wouldn't it be something like our SS cards being made more like a DL with a photo on it? I really don't want to have to carry another card. OTOH they recommend NOT carrying your SS card with you all the time now because of identity theft if you lose it or it gets stolen. So if they used that number for a national ID and required you to carry it all the time....yikes!

A National ID Card may require a reference number in lieu of your sosh, so as not to compromise ID. Then there may have to be a pin number in order to actually use it in case it was stolen. Then you'd have to cancel your old National ID until you could get your replacement. Then you may have to wait a few weeks to get that.

Or, we could just go out and eradicate all the criminals.

Dems Mod Cut: Namecalling. They want a national ID card but they complain about a state actually asking for ID.

And Reps want the state to check everyone's ID but don't want to have to carry one. Mod Cut.
