Haven't seen much talk about Maricopa (City) and Queen Creek (including San Tan). Anyone from those areas? What are your thoughts? Both cities can be considered as suburbs of Phoenix, and the growth is phenomenal -- even for Phoenix.

I am not from these areas but live relatively close to both-in Chandler. They have both seen a ton of growth over the past few years. Builders were offering large homes for very little money. The trouble is Queen Creek is terrible to commute in or out of and I have not heard good things about the schools. Maricopa is not as bad getting to and I can not speak about the schools. Ammenities such as grocery stores and resturants are few in number. You can still get a smoking deal on a home in both places but if you buy out there, plan on staying awhile. You will not be able to sell the place until the builders dwindle down their enourmous inventories. Hope that helps!

I used to live in Queen Creek. I didnt like it. 30 minutes to the mall/movie theatre. Not very many dining places besides Fast Food. Though they have all the right things out there, it just doesnt add up to it all. The school disctrict really needs some re-thinking, and the neighborhood I moved in didnt have the best people

Being in the construction business, I can say both places have added seemingly countless new homes in the past few years. QC does have that terrible commute, and very little amenities such as grocery stores, etc. The good thing is they aren't that far away in Gilbert or Mesa.
Maricopa is a little different. Same tremendous growth, if not more, but it is substantially closer to the freeways, and in the last year has seen an explosion of commercial growth there as well. Several grocery stores, most fast-food places, and other businesses have sprung up, with more to come. Maricopa is semi-surrounded by reservation, though. But you can look at that two ways...there are the mounds of junk and garbage in almost every front yard on the res, **OR** there's that brand new shiny casino just five minutes away! |
