Needless to say, I'm not happy about this sales tax increase either. It's unfortunate that so many people were suckered into the gimmick about how it's going to save education. Sorry, but I don't want to save public education ... I want the schools to be turned over to free enterprise like the vast majority of businesses, and to ease (not increase) the tax burden on the general population. I guess nobody remembers when voters approved the big tax hike of 2000 after being promised all the revenue would go toward education and vastly improve the school system. HA! We're still paying that tax, and the schools have gotten even worse. So much for politicians and their promises.

Oh well. The only good thing I can say about this is at least the voters had the final say. At least this tax increase won't bring back all day Kiddy Care ... and the freeway Nappy Cams are being turned off in July. That's excellent news!

Yep. Already have started moving purchases to online retailers to avoid the extreme ~10% penalty. This pretty much is the last straw that I will move all major purchasing to online (sorry local retailers). Of course they may figure out a way to tax the internet one of these days.

I saw that Maricopa County - PHX for any out of state readers - had a higher percentage of yes vote at 66 than Pima (Tucson) at 64. That's odd. Mojave is the only county where it lost. Mojave has many (too many?) retirees.
