Default Relocate to NW Arkansas or Nashville area

I have been reading a lot of info on this forum and had some questions I haven't seen asked yet. Can anyone help? My husband and I are considering relocating from Northern California to the Eureka Springs/Fayetteville area. We are trying to get our daughter and son-in-law to come too. My questions are: What is the job market like for a civil engineer? Our other daughter is in her first year of college and wants to be a registered nurse. How hard is it to get into nursing programs at the colleges in AR? Are there dangerous snakes in the lakes & rivers? We are planning a trip out there in Sept. We have also been looking at small towns within an hour of Nashville. Any comparisons to NW Arkansas? Thanks!

Metro Nashville is much, much larger than NWA.

I certainly can't answer all your questions but we just got back from NW Ar and years ago thought of Nashville. Of course the job market in Nashville would be much better but the area is just to big for us. It is a great place to visit, we had a blast. There are a few nice towns not too far outside of Nashville. Of course you will experience everything you would in any truely metro area. NW AR is more laid back, slower pace and I think even prettier.

Eureka Springs, I beleive is artsy and touristy, not very large and not really that close to Fayetteville. Of course both areas will be on the more liberal side, if that is what you are looking for as one is artsy and the other a college town. My granddaughter is a senior at the Univeristy. She is an English/Social science major who will get her teaching credential after summer school next year. She may go into nursing later. As for the University, she absolutely loves it.

If you are looking for a more conservative area you may want to think about Bella Vista, just about an hour or less from Fayetteville.

Again, I don't know all that much, but we have done some research.

Nita

I'll tackle the snake question - there are cottonmouths. There are copperheads. Will you meet up with them? Well - I guess you could, but I'm not sure you will find an area other than possibly some Caribbean islands or Alaska without snakes.

U of A F'ville has an excellent nursing program. Baptist runs a school in Little Rock for sure, not sure where else. UAMS has their own program, also in Little Rock. St. Vincent's and UALR have a joint effort - here's a few links, hopefully that will get you started....and, as always, there is a terrible nursing shortage everywhere.

Not a thing, but you can bet if they are offering free trips there will be some very high pressured sales people involved. I think I would prefer to do it on my own after contacting a good realtor.
