Which is better: Pocahontas or Paragould?
I'm moving to NE Arkansas and am trying to decide between these two towns. My husband is a pharmacist and needs to relocate, so we were thinking that a place close to Joneboro would be nice... even more nice if he could find a job in either Pocahontas or Paragould. Anyway, which of these two towns are the best. Which is more beautiful, more kind, more employment opportunities, etc? If there is anyone out there who has lived/lives there (either town), won't you tell me more about it. I thank you in advance for your help.

if i was you i would actually move to jonesboro if my spouse had a job there.
it's a wonderful city and in certain places actually feels like your in a small town. but if you only want to live in either pocahontas or paragould i would choose paragould.
it has a waterpark and has that big city/small town feel...(if you know what i mean)
i don't really know that much about pocahontas.
i love larger cities and that's why i live in jonesboro.
i'm hoping it gets larger...
i hoped i helped you out

I lived in Paragould and my husband's family goes way back there. It's a nice town and bigger than Pocahontas-two school systems, more opportunity there and an honest to goodness Chili's restaraunt! Woohoo! My family moved there while I was in jr high school and we found the people to be really friendly. FYI, like some other small Arkansas towns, there's not much racial diveristy, but I'm not sure that Pocahontas is any different, in that respect.
The pharmacists we know there are very nice!
Oh, and Jonesboro has a Target store! So, NE Arkansas is officially on the map, now. Good luck with your move!

i second a move directly to jonesboro, but if you must choose b/t the two, i'd say paragould. it actually has three high schools (2 public, 1 private).

Yeah but ...
Racial diversity is one thing ... racial hatred is another.
Of these two towns, which would you advise a black person to either:
1.) Not sweat it
2.) Stay away from
3.) Move there.. "it's great"?

I personally like Jonesboro. It's a larger town, but not too large, and it has plenty of job opportunities especially with the 2nd largest university system in the state being there, but if you are just set on either Paragould or Pocahontas you definetly should pick Paragould. Pocahontas is too hickish for my tastes...

Paragould
I've lived in NE Arkansas most of my life. I'm from a small town of roughly 200. Lynn. I moved to Pocahontas when I was 21. It was ok. Still small...and 24 hr Wal-Mart and Gas stations, Pizza Hut. But there's not much to do.
I live in Paragould now going on three years. It's great. It's that small town friendly I grew up with and the big city conveneinces I had to do without.
There's a new movie theatre with 8 cinemas. Check it out paragouldcinema.com. We have lots of restaurants...Chili's, TaMolly's, Dixie Cafe, Brickhouse Pizza, (lots of Mexican restaurants...Casa Brava is the best!) etc. Walgreens opened earlier this year. A Papa John's is coming in (now hiring). Lowe's is contructing a store here. Two great public school systems, plus a private christian school. We have a community center with a water park. We're close to Crowley's Ridge State Park. There's also a skate board park at Labor Park in town.
Plus...Paragould is only twenty minutes from Jonesboro. Pocahontas is about an hour.
Of the two ...my favorite is Paragould.
