I am not from AR but I would guess it is pretty similar everywhere. When my dh got a job in SWMO I quit my job and applied for unemployment from NE. I got it but had to wait I think 8 or 9 weeks as a penalty. Quitting your job to follow your spouse is not a good enough reason is what they told me.

I don't know about AR, but states I'm familiar with don't pay unemployment to those who just quit their jobs... nor to those who are fired for cause. It could be different in your state. Call your local office and ask.

You are right, that is the normal way. IF others have quit and gotten unemployment I am surprised. Unemployment is for for those who lose their jobs, no one else.

Greetings,

Just to let u know before hubby takes job in PA, check into your insurance cost change. Inspections and licensing fee for the yr. In PA they tax everything. Moving expenses are also to be considered, with deposits, on electrica and phone, water. Rental truck, gas. I dont know if you have moved before like this, just letting u know a few things before you make the leap.
All around cost of living is higher there. It will be a culture shock for you being from the south.
But when u do get your unemployment it will pay more there. Quiting a job? Be real sure that is what you want to do. Is hubby's job worth maybe 2-4 dollars more an hour? Send him first and see what he thinks.
Sit back and make a list what your giving up there and what advantages it is to move to PA. what part of PA are you moving to?
Be Blessed

Who was posting all the unemployment inquiries about getting extensions and stuff on here back in Feb/March from your account? Your husband?

If so, he should be an expert on unemployment by now.

I would personally call the office and make my inquiry.

No you may not collect unemployment if you voluntarily leave a job.

There are some instances (and I am not speaking specifically of Arkansas law here, but I suspect it's true in a lot of states) where a voluntary quit for "good cause" or for "compelling personal reasons" as defined by state regulations, qualifies you for benefits. Check with your local UI office.
