Since my previous post, we are strongly considering moving to the West Fork area and school district. If anyone has any further information of any kind about this town/area, it would be extremely appreciated. We have never even visited the area at this time, we only have viewed it from Google Earth, so even any information on its immediate terrain would be helpful!
Thanks to those you you that responded to my previous post!! Have a wonderful day!! |

I grew up in the West Fork area and attending the WF schools. I can't give any current information on the school system, but believe it was an adequate education.
West Fork has blossomed in previous years and has more and more amenities that keep popping up. A lovely park by the river, a hometown grocery store, convenience stations, Dollar General stores, restaurants... With I540 Fayetteville is a hop, jump and skip away. There's probably not a lot of in the way of employment in West Fork, outside of working at said small stores, but if gas prices do not overly concern you, then working in Fayetteville should be a huge issue. We considered raising our family there, but the drive to where my husband works would have not been ideal, so we did not settle there (and are actually now wanting to move back to Seattle anyway, so that's probably not a bad thing). Good luck with your decision, it really is a lovely little town. ![]() Carolyn |

My description of West Fork would be:
Small town of about 2,000 people. Sitting in between old highway 71 (now a scenic route) and new I-540. Just south of Fayetteville / Greenland and north of the Bobby Hopper Tunnel. Hilly (Ozark mountains) terrain - lots of trees. The town itself is in a valley. The A & M railroad runs right thru the middle of town. The west fork of the White River runs right thru town. Community makeup appears to be mostly working / lower to middle class folks. Most amenities are within walking / bicycling distance of each other. West Fork is located off the same exit to get to Devil's Den State Park. A neat little music house downtown - I dont know anything about it though. Really good public school system with competitive sports programs. Attractive park and pavilion right in town beside the bridge that crosses the White River. West Fork has a community of "artists" - some well known nationally for their talents. Mostly smaller, older homes make up the town however a few newer neighborhoods can be found between West Fork and Greenland on old highway 71. Hope this helps. |
