Default Relocation to Mountain Home

My wife and I are planning on retiring in Arkansas (from Arizona) in a few months. We returned from vacation a couple of weeks ago to the Beaver Lake area and, while there, made it as far east as Harrison and north as Bransom, MO. We planned on visiting Mountain Home as well since property prices seem to be more reasonable there than around Beaver Lake. We're interested in a house on maybe 5-40 cares near a lake, but not necessarily waterfront or waterview.

In preparation, I am planning on going back to Arkansas and taking the necessary real estate licensing course to get my license in August. Hopefully, our house here in Arizona will sell before too late in the fall.

I'm interested in what some of the better areas around the Mountain Home area are for reasonably priced acreage, nice homes, in close proximity to real estate offices from which to work.

Check out Old Military Road- its got some decent property available I believe. Also look around the bipass.

The farther out of town you get- the less expensive property will be.For Lake Front- Mallard point is your only option- it is the only place on norfork lake where you are allowed to build on lake front. Everywhere else there is a government strip. Prices in Mallard point are therefor very very high. Lake view properties are more redily available. Winter views are quite reasonable. Check out Henderson (across the lake from mountain home) for the best Lake View prices. It will add about 15 minutes to your commute- but could be well worth it if you are willing to commute and live in a rural area. Otherwise- the area around old military road will probably be your best bet.
