Well, we have the word of an intoxicated person that this was race-related? Why does EVERYTHING have to go back to race, haven't we evolved more than that yet?
P.S. - I'm not impressed by the article either - a fifth grader could have written better.... "fore seeing"? |

And rather than booting everone involved, or even just the problem starters, you kick out those who are being attacked. If you've ever been to Paragould, you would know that this is a general mindset of the town. It's so backwards.
It also doesn't help that people like you are so dead set on ignoring that there is discrimination still around that you get offensive every time someone says race is the reason. |

This wasnt a "race" issue, they just played it. They were drunk, obnoxious and asked to leave. Apparently they didnt want to and made a big deal about it (used the race thing). People get booted out of bars for all kinds of reasons, regardless of race.

I agree with Sam,
why do people always assume it is race and they are the ones being discriminated against? Whether green, purple, white, black or a mixed couple anyone who is drunk can create problems: mood change when people drink too much, we all should know that. perhaps both sides were throwing remarks around that were uncalled for, but the bar tender had to do what seemed like the best thing at that time. ![]() I wasn't there, I don't know and yes, we all know there is still racium in this country, quite often it is reverse discrimination. For those who don't want to patronize the private club anymore, fine, that is your choice. I don't think one of two boycotting anything will make a big difference. Nita |

Interesting - Prather and Dollins are "afraid to walk around town" and if they "had the money" they would leave - but they had the money to hang out in a bar.....doesn't say how long they have lived in Paragould or if they are just passing through. They aren't club members so they most likely had to pay a membership fee to get in......so they live in Paragould and this is the FIRST time something of this nature has happened? Not likely, if the town is "backward".
My guess is that they were passing through.....Ms. Dollins acted a fool and they got themselves removed. Dollins was drunk and causing problems...had she not been drunk, she might have noted that things weren't going well for her, or maybe they weren't going well because she was drunk. That happens a lot, ya know....and she could have removed herself. What I see as the biggest error here is the patrons of the bar trying to reason with a drunk. Never a good idea, can't be done. But Ms. Dollins and Mr. Prater should be thankful that for whatever the reason the proprietor saw fit to ask them to leave, at least it was the proprietor and not the law....although perhaps a night in the drunk tank would help Ms. Dollins understand that you need to mind your manners at all times, no matter who you are, where you are, or what color you are....and that alcohol, bad manners, and a chip on your shoulder never mix well at all. |
