What do you think of Otter Creek? I am so new to Little Rock and there seems to be something unspoken about that area. Did they build on a sacred Indian burial ground, or what?

Don't know who exactly you're talking to Luanna - but I'll take a stab at it anyway!

Otter Creek has made a comeback with the city sprawl - it was hot for a while when new, then it sort of took a dive as people began buying closer to downtown in Little Rock. Unfortunately, it has the stigma of being in the 72209 zip code - and everyone in Little Rock knows what an '09-er is...sort of a joking name for the area where the true rednecks used to live. Now it's just a more reasonably priced neighborhood on the outskirts of the real urban areas.

There's nothing mystical about Otter Creek - it's well settled and the whole Stagecoach Road/Col. Glenn area has grown enormously since the days there were only bars and honky-tonks out there.....I lived in Otter Creek apartments many years ago and I loved being there. I worked at Baptist Hospital and it was just a short jump to work. I guess after you get off I-430 and start east - or west, for that matter - during rush hour traffic on I-630 or Chenal it could be a little intense, but as for the neighborhood itself, I like it - I'd live there again.

I have lived in Benton most of my life. I work in Bryant. I enjoy both cities and contrary to Basscat, I think they are really one in the same. As much as Benton and Bryant try not to run together, they do. Go stand in the parking lot of the "Alcoa Exchange" shopping area and you will quickly learn how easy it is to confuse the two areas.

I do agree with Basscat when it comes to the cliques in the schools and the "good ole boy" contractors. We had an awful contractor on our home. I have heard that Ken Young is a great builder in this area. Go to KenYoungHomes.com. Also, Heritage Farms and Emerald Valley and Kings Crossing are areas he builds in with nice homes.

I did not go to Benton or Bryant schools, but rather Harmony Grove. Great school district and just a fifteen minute drive on the other side of Benton. There is an area out there in the Silver Springs country club if you are looking for golf. I don't know much about the subdivision though.

I would not want to live any where else in Arakansas but one of these areas: Bryant, Benton, Haskell, Lonsdale, Bauxite.

How about Hot Springs Village? The east gate is 18 miles from Benton, very restricted commercial development inside, gated community, no manufactured housing, low crime, etc etc.

Please elaborate.... we're new to the area & looking in the new Middle School area of Bryant. There's a house that Infinity built in Hurricane Meadows that's appealing & looks great.... help?!
PLEASE help?! Can someone elaborate here about this builder? And Ken Young does appear to be a great builder, but doesn't have anything north of I30, which is the school zone we're in (the new Bethel Middle School).... help please???

Ken Young built my dad's house and it's great. They built in Emerald Valley, but only around the $150-200 range, I don't know if he does larger.
I live in LR, but I like Bryant and Benton ok. Every place has their pros and cons. Good luck!

Infinity Homes did an awesome job on our house so I am not sure what Basscat's problem was. We love the Benton/Bryant area and infinity homes was perfect for us. We have had no problems and they have been great to deal with. I would recommend I.H. to anyone. We have recently been looking in Hurricane Lake Estates which seems to be a great neighborhood also - any thoughts?

I have heard Infinity Homes is good, as well as some other builders in the area. RQM Homes just built my friend a house in Hurricane Meadows. They're an up & coming builder with a really good reputation. They've been building for several years, but have really started standing out with their unique designs including some craftsman, french country styles with painted brick & stone. I've seen them in several areas, but mainly Hurricane Meadows & Coldwater Creek. Most builders in Benton/Bryant are still pretty traditional with their design and limit their costs with what they put in their homes; RQM's spec homes are more custom-designed interior and exterior. You get a lot for your $.

As far as Infinity Homes, I personally don't think you'd go wrong & I believe they're one of the more reputable builders in the area.

Default Hurricane Lake/Bryant,AR

Trying to send again. Found your thread, a year old. I'm relocating to West Little Rock or Bryant area. Hurricane Lake/Golf interests me. What did you decide to do? Can you share more insight to your decision?

What is up with the zoning in AR that allows such a beautiful development to be placed right next to a large mobile home park? Doesn't this cause problems in the area? My wife and I are seriously considering the Benton/Bryant area but it seems like every nice place is right next to a less than desired area. I looked at Longhills Village and it has nice homes as well but the golf course doesn't do the homes justice in my opinion. The places I saw in in Cabot were the same, only much more $$$$$ for what you get and farther away from the interstate. Anyone know any pros or cons on these areas? Or do you know any other places that are nice in close proximity to Benton/Bryant?
