There is no evidence to support your conclusion.

A flock of birds died for reasons we don't understand. But the birds were in a specific location, not all over. As for the reports of the Louisiana birds found on the roadside, that's a much smaller number, and might very well have gone unreported except for the Arkansas flock.

The fish died earlier, it's suspected that they were ill.

The 500 earthquakes were so minor that most of them could not even be felt. Earthquakes happen all the time, everywhere. And these earthquakes are not on the New Madrid fault system, moreover, they may be caused by human activity, not by stress on the earth's crust.

hey, they don't call it the "bird flu" for nothing. Could it be these birds were carrying the flu virus. I was always told if you see a dead blackbird, call CDC and don't go near or touch it.

So far, there is no indication that the birds weren't healthy. The initial investigation has not shown that the birds were suffering any ailment. It seems that for the most part they died of the impact when they hit buildings or the ground.

Would not be surprised at all if they hit a methane pocket. Same with the fish.

My husband is from Stuttgart. Almost 40 years ago, a flock of mallards got caught in a hailstorm and frozen ducks were falling all over town. It was the day before hunting season started, and the game warden said people couldn't keep the ducks because it was out of season. My husband's mother (and I suspect, a lot of other people) said the Good Lord sent those ducks and she wasn't giving 'em back!

Those red-winged blackbirds...in Stuttgart they call them Ricebirds.

Every day I find yet another reason to mourn the loss of common sense in our country's government.

according to the reports today, it is looking more like fireworks may be the problem. You are right about the healty, today's paper said if the flu had anything to do with it, we would see dead birds all along the way, from north to south and east to west.

A vet on NPR said the birds were probably scared off their night roosts -- they cannot see to fly at night -- by New Year's Eve CANNON FIRE (is that really how they celebrate out that way?) and plowed blindly into houses and trees and stuff. But combined with the fish massacree, it gives me an even more shuddery feeling.

Firework explanation just doesn't hold water to me. Why doesn't this problem happen every year in that case and in more areas? Also, I heard that Beebee residents claimed no fireworks were shot off that night.

The police chief says otherwise.
