What's Up Arkansas
What's Up, I guess I'm the first member from Arkansas.
I live in NW Arkansas, which is the booming area of the state right now.
Any questions about Arkansas, feel free to ask.

Welcome - not everyone can be #1
I just found this page, and was surprised that I'm just #3
I also live in NW Arkansas, and have lived here since May '92. What a lot of changes we have seen in such a short time, especially the roads. Seems like there is always some kind of improvement going on.
This is a beautiful part of the country to live in - even with the 40-some% growth, it still maintains that small town feel. To echo member #1 - if you want to know about NW Arkansas, just ask

I also lived in Fort Smith, about six to seven months, before my husband decided to accept another position... again! Ha. Hey... better job and much better pay, you just can't beat it. He was in management at OK Foods there in Fort Smith. At least it was OK Foods when we lived there. We used to go up to Mena all the time and to Willimena State Park. (SP??)

Hello Arkansas!!
Hello everyone, I currently live in Florida but am planning to move to the Bentonville area at the end of March. I am happy to have found some people that live or have lived in the area. I have been wondering what it is like there. I have only heard certain things from some people so whatever you all can tell me I would appreciate it.
How are the people? Is there anything to do?
Thanks again everyone!
Sergio

Tell me sergio, are you moving to Bentonville because of Wal-Mart?
To give you a little info on NWA, when you get here, don't be anxious to see a big downtown like enviroment or anything. NWA is spread among 4 cities (Rogers, Fayetteville, Springdale, and Bentonville). Fayetteville is the biggest thing to a big city you will find, and it is also home to the University of Fayetteville, which is the largest University in the state. It has a distinct Urban feel to it, that also has a lot of history. If you want to feel like you are in the big city, than Fayetteville is the place. Springdale is pretty much a blue collar town that is about 20% hispanic. Springdale also plays home to the world's largest po****tion of Marshallese people outside of the Marshall Islands and is home to Tyson Foods, one of the World's Largest Food Production Companies. Rogers is another great town in NWA, that is in the midst of a building boom. The Pinnacle Area is an area where downtown like buildings are being built quicker than they can be sold. Rogers will be the shopping mecca for NWA within 5 years, when 2 1 Million Square Feet Outdoor Lifestyle center Malls open. Bentonville, of course is the home to the Number 1 company in the world for sales "Wal-Mart". Bentonville mocks Rogers in many ways, except that Bentonville is focusing more on their downtown which is much more important IMO.
The area has a lot of suburbia sprawl, but has many great opportunities.
Hope to see you soon, and Welcome to NWA!!

Thank you so much
Alot of the info you gave me was great. You were very detailed and I really appreciate that. I am not moving to Bentonville for Walmart although I am not suprised you asked that. I am moving there for another job opportunity. I have heard the cost of living is very good and housing is very affordable. I have lived in Miami since I was born and the last thing I want is another big city. Small town life sounds great to me right about now.
Again, thanks for the info and keep in touch,
Sergio

I always like the Grand Prarie of central Arkansas. A very often overlooked place. Stuttgart is a very nice city of about 10,000 souls.
