Do you think anything would really change or that the good people from Ark can't responsibly carry a weapon in the open ?

If anything an open carry weapon let's the bad guys know who not to mess with.

Also all the "bad guys" and mentally unstable individuals that have not yet been caught or convicted of anything will be walking around with pistols on their hips. Not all "bad guys" are convicted felons. A gun totin' hick only has to snap one time to decide to whip it out and shoot someone.

There are many open carry states that don't have any problems. OpenCarry.org - A Right Unexercised is a Right Lost!

Tennessee recently tried to allow restaurant carry. There were people making comments about the number of shootouts that would happen. Mississippi has had restaurant carry since the 1970's and there hasn't been a single issue. Responsible gun owners will not cause trouble.

No, no, no! The "hicks" I grew up with and now hang out with, prefer to use their fists. It's more personal that way.

N. Carolina is an open carry state, it also has a concealed carry permit, there are those you know are armed and those you may think are armed, it has had a deterrent effect on some crimes. Even in the infamous Klan/Nazi shootout with the American Communist party. The Klan and the Nazis' showed up with all armament in the trunk, they were attacked by the ACP wielding pick and maddock handles, the court found that they were within their rights to fire in self defense. I am not a big supporter of either of these three organizations, but...the American Communist Party has not attacked anyone else in the State of North Carolina since that day. The Klan and Nazis' have not had to defend themselves since, either. In N. Carolina you can not (unless you are an onduty Police Officer) carry any firearm into a courthouse or a school zone.

I am a supporter of rights for gun owners, but this seems a bit extreme.

Most states already allow open carry.
