Thinking of Taking a Job with Walmart and moving to Bentonville
As the title implies I have been offered a job with Wal-Mart and am now thinking of taking it and moving there.
There are a few things I would like to know ASAP about the area.
1) What is it like there? Are there a lot of places to go backpacking and camping? What other outdoor activities are there to do there?
2) What is there to do in town? Movies? Theater? Art?
3) What are the names and phone numbers of some nice apartment complexes or rental homes?
4) About Wal-Mart, If I take the job I will be a programmer for them and I would like to know something about the work environment? Any insight would be helpful.
Please, be a specific and you can when answering the questions. Thank you.

Hi,
I got a job with WalMart too. I have to start on September 11th , and I will be a programmer too. However, I'm from Pennsylvania, and before I accepted the offer I went there and visited the area. It is nice, quiet, people were friendly, the cost of living is not too expensive, comparative with my area is 6% lower than here.
As far as I saw , there are not too many stores in Bentonville. They are building a Mall , but you are very closed to Rogers and Fayeteville. I did not see a theater, the city is dry ( you cannot purchase alcohol from the store and take it home). WalMart has one of the bigest fitness center from the USA. I can't think of anything right now....
I hope all these information are helpfull...good luck and probably we'll meet there.

Energy and Scenery
There are a string of booming towns there, of which Bentonville is one. What I believe is to be the best, if not biggest, shopping mall in Arkansas is currently under construction in or near Bentonville. The towns of Pea Ridge, Rogers, Springdale, and Fayetteville are nearby along I-540. Fayetteville is the home of the University of Arkansas and somewhat of a cultural center. The area in Northwest Arkansas is beautiful. If you are the outdoor type, or just like looking at scenery, you'll probably love it.
The pace of living, and the attitude of the people up there reflects the area's rapid expansion. There's the feel of energy in the air, but people tend to be a bit cooler than in most of Arkansas. Good luck!

As far as outdoor activities are concerned, you've hit the jackpot!! You will be smack dab in the middle of the Ozarks with all the back packing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hang gliding, etc, etc, etc that you could ever ask for. If you're a hunter, you're also in for a treat.
you mentioned apartments. Lindsey management is the largest chain of multifamily homes in the state and probably the Southern US. He is based in the NW arkansas metro area. Check out the website: google search for lindseymanagement.com. I've lived in lindsey apartments for 5 years now, and while apartment living sucks, it sucks alittle less with Lindsey properties.
