Aerospace Companies in South Arkansas.....
We've a few Aerospace Companies in East Camden in South Arkansas. Some small lake areas around South Arkansas that you might would like to live at especially between Hampton and El Dorado like lake Calion. There's General Dymanics, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Aerojet and some smaller companies. Best of luck to you.

I feel like an idiot - I forgot all about Raytheon in Little Rock...I think that's them, and there's another one out at Adams Field....I am not sure what they actually DO out there - I have a friend who is a custom cabinetmaker for the high dollar private jets that works there - but at any rate - THANKS ANJOE! Good catch!

thanks, I don't necessarily want to stay in aerospace but it is what I have experience in at the moment, I will have to do some digging on those places and see what I can find. Thanks alot everyone. You know I would be curious as to what liberal does mean to an Arkansas person...

OK an otion?
Reyna_lin, have you also researched NE Oklahoma? I too found Fayetteville to meet the most of my criteria but am now finding Green Country in OK has the similar climate, the bennies of the Oark beauty, and proximity to Tulsa (the many amenities big cities have to offer plus employment opportunities if needed) seems to throw the balance more in OK's favor. If I can't make a good income in Tahlequah area, I plan to look into areas around Tulsa that are country feeling but nearer the bigger metro, like Claremore (north) or Broken Arrow (south), yet be so close to so many lakes. Check out my comparisons as people respond to my blog "NE Okl or NW Ark?" Maybe we'll both get the questions answered we're looking for.

Stay away from the South Arkansas area. Even if you do get a job here, more than likely if you loose it, you'll have to relocate again. The jobs around are vanishing by the minute.

Liberal and Arkansas don't mix. Our "liberal" areas would be considered conservative to very conservative in most other states. Most of rural Arkansas is either very poverty struck or very religious/conservative. Fayetteville would probably be your best bet. Little Rock has some nice areas too, and there are a few aerospace companies in town. Neither of them are "big cities" compared to what you are probably used to in Florida, but they are big by Arkansas standards. You can actually find pretty rural within 30 minutes of downtown.

I'm looking into relocating to NW AK too... possibly Fayetteville.. Yes it keeps popping up on my search engines too..lol.. We seem to have similar interests.. I am spiritual not religious, plan on building possibly underground but dif. off grid house on about 10 acres. Organic gardening is important and raise my young boys about the same. Green is big for me too. My dad lives in Ft. Lauderdale area and is relocating with us when and where we find that ideal place...
Just thought I'd say HI and if we both decide on moving there, you'll know that I'll welcome you instead of pull my pitch forks on you

Conservatives in AR
This is one reason we want to move to NWA. Living in Las Vegas is just unbelievable. I am looking forward to meeting the religous right. It will be a refreshing change from what we have here!
We are also conservative Republicans, I think... Hard to tell anymore! We believe in hard work, personal responsibility, and commitment to our beliefs. What party is that? Hmmm, may hafta' start a new one
Off the subject - We are in deep trouble right now. Las Vegas is the foreclosure capital of the nation. We are not working and jobs are scarce. Our house has gone from a worth of $200,000 to under $80,000!!! (No, I'm not kidding). How is the job market in NWA for someone looking for delivery driver, warehouse-type work? We've gone from earning $6,000 per month to $1,400 .
We've been wanting to move to NWA and have loved it on our visits. Is this a good time to do that? We will rent an apt for the time being.
Any info you can offer will be greatly appreciated. You all (mostly) are so helpful and positive. I just love reading all your posts!

I moved from Vegas in June--to Missouri. My mom lives in Centerton, AR in Benton County. I would love to move to Arkansas if I could. You will be in for a very different lifestyle. Benton county is dry, meaning no liquor stores--you can get drinks in restaurants. You can buy liquor in Washington County, AR or McDonald County, MO. Shopping is different, but varies between the Bentonville, Fayetteville area. Housing values are down in NW Arkansas, too, but I don't think any place has been hit like Vegas.
Get ready for green shock--a very green, pretty environment, versus the desert landscape. It also seems very dark at night vs Vegas--as is almost every other place on earth!
Good luck!
