Things Ive learned about hunting and fishing in AR
Ive saw this on other thread from diff states..so I figured Id post my own mishaps about hunting and fishing in AR...feel free to add your own. (yes I did, witness or do all these things..
1. you cant build a fire in a wooded tree stand...yes its cold, but dad wont understand and the squirrels will laugh at you.
2. you cant walk down the railroad tracks, even if it is to get over a creek, Union Pacific railroad HIGHLY frowns upon this.
3. box springs will only float for a few minutes when used as a boat
4. dont let your friend throw your only paddle at a snake at 10pm while frog gigging down river....
5. make sure same friend mentioned above puts plug IN the hole before lauching said boat to go duck hunting.
6. if you go duck hunting on the black river..dont go unless your boat will at least do 40mph, you WILL get run over..its like a moped at a Nascar race if you do.
7. if you get lost in the woods, and come upon a house in the woods in the Ozarks..AVOID all temptation to go ask for directions.. woman in said house may have been drinking moonshine and may run you off her property with a 30-30.
8. dont shoot at deer from the highway...while I didnt do it, the Game and Fish commission at one time took a brown goat and tied horns to it, then promptly arrested those that couldnt resist the urge to try and "bag" it.
9. never tell your wife or gf that you will be back at a certain time when hunting with diehard deer hunters...
10. take a camera..nobody will believe half of what you say unless you have pictures.

If your crankbait snags on an overhanging branch, never grab the snag to steady the boat without checking the branch for a snake sunning itself.
Never call your cousin's girlfriend a walleye in jest, if he's been drinking.
Always assume that if there is only one boat ahead of you at the launch just before dawn, the owner will get it hung on the trailer, and forget to put the drain plug in.
If you're fishing with an inexperienced friend or neighbor, always wear a wide brimmed hat until you're sure he knows how to fish his end of the boat and can cast that big ol' plug without embedding it in your skull.
If you own a great big, fawn colored dog, cut down a reflective vest for him to wear during hunting season. (the idiot missed)

I've done it too...I think everybody has, but not for years as I have a mental checklist that I never vary prior to launching.
Shoot, once I drove 100 miles to go fishing and forgot to bring the boat key with me, and didn't have a spare.
Talk about dumb.

I once saw I guy who was so bad at backing up a trailer, he had both truck tires in the water and only one trailer tire. Me and Wifey just sat there watching until finally he got the trailer in the water, just a little bit, I ran up to get my trailer while this guy and his friends started pushing on the boat, to get it off the trailer, it won't move, it is a big cabin cruiser type boat. Finally Wifey says to the guy, "Ya know, if you back up a little more the boat will float".....

I lived in WA for a number of years and I always enjoyed the first couple of days of the salmon season as most of the launch sites where I lived were long, shallow and narrow, plus the tides had an effect on the method of launching
I saw more people back their trailers off the launches and get stuck than I ever thought possible.
Once I saw a guy get his truck mired on one side of the launch and his trailer on the other...crosswise. High hilarity ensued.
Nothing like watching a 30 minute launching and the resultant arguments and fistfights.
High entertainment.

Had a friend and his dad take their new moter and boat to Lake Norfork lake, to try out the new motor, this was back when the 9.9's came out because of the game and fish law banning anything over 10hp I believe. Anyway they lauched their boat, started out across the water from 101 boatdock, and the motor literally fell off the back of the boat, I wasnt there, so I dont know the ins and outs, but they did find it, hired some scuba diver to go get it....talk about a bad day fishing!

We had a place over on the California Delta called Orowood Resort, They had bleacher seating next to the launch ramp, and some guys would sit in there and act like Oylmpic judges holding up signs with numbers for the launchers. Whenever someone could'nt back very well they would start cheering and laughing, more than one fight took place cause of this, until finally they had to remove the bleachers.....

Took the boat out for a ride one time, forgot to put the plug in. Couldn't get it back to the launch ramp and loaded back onto the trailer quick enough! How come we never forget the stupid things we do? LOL
