I am going to St. Charles, a suburb of St. Louis. I found a nice home in Lake St. Louis. I think it will be a good change from Vegas and I'll be about 6 hours from my mom who lives in Bentonville. Good Luck in San Diego!

We lived in Ballwin for 16 years before being transferred to Omaha in 2004. I hope you enjoy that area as much as we did. The Lake St Louis/O'fallon area is growing like crazy. It's a little hot and humid in the summer but the falls are beautiful. If you like floating, you are only 1 to 2 hours away from several beautiful rivers, Meramec, Huzzah, Black, etc and there is ample camping on any of them.
Three more years in Omaha and I am retiring to Hot Springs Village but will still visit St Louis often to visit the many friends we still have there and of course to see my Cardinals.
Go hogs!!!!!!!

I have found the country people of arkansas to be kinder, nicer people than the city folks,
The south is a wonderful place to live,
We are a proud people , and try to be kind, to help those in need, and to live for God and country,
I have talked to people that have moved to Arkansas from northern states and they for the most part are amazed at the kindness, and warmth of our fair states people,
Most of them have said to me that they think the northern people are not as friendly and caring as we are,
Sure we love our guns, sure we have southern pride,
But we love our country and our God, and always welcome anyone who wants to be part of our state with open arms...

There are ignorant people everywhere! You cannot judge a state based on a forum like this. There are good-hearted people that live in Arkansas and there are hateful people that live there too! The theory that one bad apple spoils the bunch should not be used when judging a state that people reside in.

I don't think it is anger that you are sensing. It's frustration. Arkansas is a lot more sophisticated that some people might think. It's fine that you have your own opinion, but when you announce it to everyone....it might rub some people the wrong way. For example: When you call someone a "backwards/overly religious/hunting crazy/Wal-Mart shopping/flag waving fanatic." To some people...this might be a little insulting. Arkansas is a beautiful place to live. I've recently moved to Little Rock (a year ago) and I was just telling a relative the other day how nice everyone has been here. I don't think I could ever leave! However, I have heard that Oregon is beautiful...so maybe that could be an option!
