A few days ago someone told me to check out the Rebel Flag/Gun Rack thread in the Arkansas section. I did, and was amazed at what I read. I've spent time going through many other threads in the Arkansas section as well, and I'm trying to figure out where this "Southern Hospitality" thing is. I don't think it's in Arkansas.

It seems that your state suffers all too often from jokes having to do with backwards/overly religious/hunting crazy/Wal-Mart shopping/flag waving fanatics. I've seen nothing to change my mind after reading many of the posts in this section. People ask simple questions about your state and get the common "We like who we are, so leave us alone" response A LOT!

I've spent time in the Alabama, Missisissippi, and North Carolina sections of the forum and not seen any of the poor attitude that's around here.

Far away in Oregon, I guess my thoughts about your state have been solidified.

The thread was locked for a reason, yet you felt you just had to come to the state board and bring it up again to start another fuss.

For what purpose?

You've formed your opinions...fine, but do you really think it's necessary to start another thread about a locked thread, and if so why?

AFAIC, you're just another troll.

I shouldn't have even responded to this myself, but since our Mod has a real life and isn't always here, I have no problem with pointing at you and calling BS when I see it.

From my experience, rural Arkansans enjoy being ignorant and close-minded, and the thing that these types of Arkansans fear the most is progress. I left rural Arkansas for a reason, and for all I care parts of the state like the Delta and south Arkansas can continue to DIE like they have been for the past half century. Central Arkansas and Northwest Arkansas would be better off if we didn't have to carry the rest of the state.

Not everyone that lives in rural Arkansas is ignorant and close minded.

Yes there are some people that are, but that is just as well said about every city and state in the nation not just Arkansas.

Yes, we do like how we are. You are basing your opinions on what a handful of people have said. That is not Arkansas as a whole. Perhaps you should come take a visit prior to issuing your closed minded opinions. That way you can give and educated opinion of your experience not just reading what was posted on the Internet.

I guess it just seemed like many of the responses I was reading in so many different threads seemed defensive and cold.

No, I wasn't trying to start another fuss, yet again here is some of the same anger that it is all over this state's forum. It's not like this in forums of other southern states. It's almost like people would rather Arkansas not have a state forum so they didn't have to talk or respond to anything or anybody.

What's going on?

I'd suggest you read your Oregon Board, specifically anytime someone from California posts on it. Then do the same on the Arkansas Board.
Remember the saying about stones and glass houses!

there are ignorant people all over. I lived in kansas for a bit, wichita. The chtistians there are so fanatical, they are trying to keep out casinos. They are standing out side of work places and handing out pamplets saying 21 reasons to not vote in gambling. The reasons are so dumb they do not bear repeting. People are dumb all over. if this was not the case how did bush get in?
And I was one of the dumb ones "twice"
My bad.
Hot springs and eurika springs are a bit more open to be tolerant.
