Cherokee Village / Ozark Acres
Hello
I'm new to this forum.
I've recently purchased 2 plots of land, one in Cherokee Village and one in Ozark Acres.
Initially I bought it as an investment but now having done some homework and seen what a beautiful country it is I'd quite like to retire there (a few years away yet)
Anyone now the area's??
p.s I'm from the UK

I, too am interested in knowing more about Cherokee Village as a retirement haven. I am familiar with NW Arkansas. Lots of things to do here. I think that might be important to me. How about you? Lots of construction of new homes, shopping centers, medical facilities - even a world-class art museum. However, traffic in parts of Benton and Washington County is unmanagable. It is getting so congested here and that decreases the desirability for me. Cherokee Village seems much more peaceful. Do you know anything about Horseshoe Bend?

Yes, NW Arkansas is certainly a growth area. But with that growth, comes some bad things, I guess. Our NE area, with Cherokee Village, Horseshoe Bend is still very quiet, and undiscovered. But that will be changing in the future. Ed Mc Mahon is making some commercials for lots/housing in Cherokee Village. Horseshoe Bend is smaller than Cherokee Village, but a litttle more upscale in terms of homes. But nothing really there in the way of retail stores. [moderator cut]

I live in Ozark Acres, been here for 2 years, my sister has been here for 3 years. It's so nice here, we wonder if we've died and gone to heaven. These remote Ozark Mountains are still a paradise. Lots of natural sweet water springs, forest, bluebirds of happiness.
Ozark Acres is not a fast development area. 90% of the land is natural forest owned by the state of Arkansas. There is no high pressure development plan to boost property sales and propel it into a money making city. We like it just the way it is.
If you want to see photographs and learn about Ozark Acres, they have a web site with a lot of information and photographs. Paid for and managed by the Ozark Acres S.I.D. (Suburban Improvement District). The official Ozark Acres web site is called "Ozark Acres Living" http://www.ozarkacresliving.com/
Wikipedia has a new entry for Ozark Acres at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozark_Acres

Cherokee Village Value
Hello I am new to this forum , but i have read some of the responses regarding Cherokee Village. I just wanted to say that it is absolutely gorgous there. I grew up in Alaska and I currently live in the Denver area and people are always saying how beautiful both of those states are and yes they have their own personal beauty about them, but northern Arkansas is also equally if not more so.
I was fortunate enough to purchase 2 lots in Cherokee Village on an E-Bay auction at a very very very good price and not get dooped!!! I paid only $350 dollars for one lot that is a little over a half acre and I paid a day or two later only $450 dollars for about .26 acres with an awesome 360' view!
No swamps or shams i actually own it with my name on the deed and no hidden expenses except about 75- 100 for document fees /deed change over.
My husband and I are moving there within 2-3 months and are going to build our home on one lot and biuld an investment home (sale/rent?) on the other lot [ moderator CUT]

I lived in Cherokee Village
I lived in CV for 2 years and my parents still live there. It's a great place to retire if you don't have to worry about making a living. A lot of lakes and rivers, if you like fishing and the outdoors, and there's golf, of course. It is a small town, so there isn't a lot of night life or extensive shopping, but if you don't mind making an occasional trip to do some power shopping, there are surrounding towns you can go to. Jonesboro and Mountain Home are the closest, but if you want all the ammenities, you can go 3 hours northwest to Springfield, MO or 3 hours south to North Little Rock. People living in Cherokee Village come from all over the country (I haven't met very many natives) and I have found it to be a friendly place.

I agree with wlynn. If you like laid back areas and don't like to do a lot without driving, it is a great place. I like that area because I DO that...:-)
