The Lakeside and Lake Hamilton school districts have a pretty good reputation for being good schools. Just like everywhere else there are some areas of Hot Springs you need to stay away from.

It's a very beautiful area for sure!

I lived in HS for a few years and am even considering going back. There is no place in HS I really fear. Around Spring st and parts of Grand I may not want to be walking at three AM but I have not seen a place I would not drive at most anytime. As stated above LH and Lake side are good areas and I would consider them, also Hot Springs village if you don't mind being a bit out of town. Its a gated community.

Default Living near paved walking trails in Hot Springs

Is there nice safe housing (townhomes, condos, homes, apartments) within walking distance of paved walking trails in Hot Springs? Walking distance away from busy streets? Thanks.

Default Relocating to Hot Springs in June/July 2012

Hello everyone! First off, City-Data rocks! So much great information from great people.

Ok here's the deal...I am currently a Department of Defense employee who received a job offer to relocate to Hot Springs. My family and I are currently living in Ft, Lauderdale, FL but long to move out of this place! We have one child who just turned six. We are an interracial couple, both college educated and very easy going and open minded. I myself, being in the military for over 20 years, am used to moving around. I was actually in Little Rock a couple of years back and was pleasantly surprised. I spent some time in the Ft. Chaffee area too.(Not so fun while being there in a military capacity) We are interested in renting a home in or around the Hot Springs area and are looking for recomendations. (I keep hearing horror stories about Pine Bluff). My wife will more than likely stay home for a couple of months while getting acclimated then look for employment.

I am very interested in feedback about schools and areas to live in. We would like to find a single family home, unattached. We are so over the condominium living here. We would kill for some storage space, a yard, bigger floor plans. Did I say a yard?

Any information would be appreciated!

Thanks guys.

someone else will be able to fill you in on the school districts, but I will tell you, Pine Bluff is nowhere near Hot Springs. Being interracial will not be a problem or shouldn't be. I would think you can find a nice rental in the area at a price you can be comfortable with, but not knowing your allowance or budget it is hard to say.

Well, there's a reason why you've heard what you've heard about Pine Bluff. Unless gun violence is your thing, I'd stay away from there.

I'm not too terribly crazy about Hot Springs either, but for different reasons. I will say it's a unique town, with the horse racing, bath houses, and active downtown atmosphere. Sure, that also makes it a tourist-driven town, but you'll quickly memorize routes to circumvent the traffic.
