When I last lived in Arkansas I lived outside of Paragould, about two miles from Lafe, Arkansas. I lived in Paragould just over a year and in Lafe about 9 years. I loved it and really miss it sometimes, it's beautiful up that way and I spent alot of years growing up there. I lived my entire growing up life in Arkansas, as well as most of my entire adult life, all except the past abt. 10-12 yrs. now.
Most of my family still live in Arkansas, all in and around Batesville, Pleasant Plains, Little Rock, Bentonville, Newport, Tuckerman, Swifton, Alicia, Hoxie, Walnut Ridge, Conway, Bald Knob, Grubbs, etc... many of my family being practically hillbillies I say, they were born, lived, and many are buried up in the hills in and around Batesville and Morrillton areas in Arkansas. I call my Mother a hillbilly all the time! Then you go to other side of the state and I have family there also, in & around DeQueen area, plus Hot Springs area. I lived in Fort Smith, also Springdale and have relatives in the Springdale & Fayetteville areas, and that includes my own children! As I said, everywhere. just too many places to remember and name here. My two children were both born in DeQueen and they also both currently attend school at the University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville. They also live there and share an apartment together. My son plays baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks Baseball team, on the pitching team. He is starting his third year with the Razorbacks this year, 2006! As I stated, I really do have relatives ALL OVER Arkansas and I've personally lived ALL OVER the state of Arkansas myself... from top of state to bottom, including across! LOL! Plus, I also have a few relatives just literally across the line in Missouri as well. Everywhere! SO... ASK ME ANYTHING ALSO! If I don't know I am sure I can find out for you! Hey all, let's spread the word about this Arkansas Forum and start getting more chatter to going on here! We could really be having a great time! ************************************************** ******** "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising up each time we fall!" ^I would try looking in Bella Vista, they are the retirement community in NWA, and offer relatively cheap real-estate.

Griffithville - Now that is the place to live. Small town community with great outdoor opportunities.
I have live there off and on all of my life. I was actually born in El Paso, Arkansas. A nice town that the highway bypassed. Still a good bunch of people live there. la |

the whole ROY ROGERS museum (TRIGGER & all)was sold, dissembled, and shipped to some where in the mid-west to be reassembled and become a tourist attraction back there...the land is vacant and for sale...the new victorville auto mall is across the street north of the city hall....any way ..the reason i joined this forum was to find out from real people who live in arkansas what its really like back there like: how the weather is back there during the year ?..the home prices and taxes sound great...we were thinking of paragould arkansas .... but should i be concerned about the weather? i like the dry climate and the clean air in victorville we about 3000 ft elevation (light snow one day a year sometimes more and sometimes none at all).......its cold in the winter (20 to 30 at night and 45 to 70 in the days and its hot in the summer months (100+ to 120) but its so dry its not muggy and its perfect in the spring and fall months, but, we do get more than our share of wind in the afternoon all year long off and on but not much rain and lots of sun and blue skys...the rain is something i'm not real fond of ..we get about 6-10 inches max and i read that arkansas gets 49 inches a year "wow thats a lot " does it flood ?......and is hot and muggy in the hot seasons ?..these are things the R. E. agents don't really want to give much detail on .....any info will be greately appreciated...oh: and what about tornadoes? .....thanks..

I am looking to get out of Palm Beach County FL and have decided that my parents have "ruined" me as far as cold weather goes. (I lived on Long Island till I was 16.)I am hoping for something near the gulf, but I probably couldn't afford it. I am 36 swf and I will need to be close enough to something to find work. I just don't think I could drive on ice or snow. Any suggestions?

If you don't like Snow and cold weather, than you probably won't like it up here in Northwest Arkansas. We usually have a few ice storms and a few snow storms each year. Right now it's seasonably mild, but I'm sure next year it won't be.
