need help buying coffee in hotsprings
I moved here from the north, We had a few good coffee houses that sold high quality flavord coffee for appx. 9.00 a pound, I have bought at wal-mart and it is soso, went to vickies and the nut house, and they want 15 a pound. not to good a price.
Is there a place that I am missing? I like good high end flavord coffee and decaf, that is spring water treated as it is not bitter. any hlep appreciated. thanks

Many of the grocery stores stock Starbucks & other specialty coffees. I like Kroger's Private Selection brand. We're in Georgia tho so not sure what stores are out there! Mainly wanted to ask you how you are liking the Hot Springs area as we are retired & considering a move next year. Have you been in or seen the Hot Springs Villages area. Thanks & good luck with your search. Andy4472

If all else fails, you can order from River City Coffee in Little Rock - it's in Hillcrest on Kavanaugh if you ever go to Little Rock. They will make pretty much any blend you want and will ship it to you....they are a little pricey, but you might call and ask.....can't hurt....

Andy, if you will go to the top of your screen and type in Hot Springs Village in the Search feature, you will find a number of threads on HSV - it's been discussed a lot recently, hopefully it will help you in your decision. I'm sure HowellDavis can give you lots of good tips as well.

As a coffee afficionado, I feel your pain. Starbucks coffee is, well, ok. I drink it because it's consistent and readily available. Despite knowing nothing about Vickies and the Nut House, I'd guess they don't roast on site so you're really not getting anything special from them for the money. There's a small scale family owned roaster in Rose Bud called RoZark Hills and they sell online via Buyoutsidethebox.com - Select Fine Art for Sale through Creative Consumerism. Similar price to your local establishments but these guys do all the roasting on site so you know you're going to get fresh beans and not something that's sat around on some shelf there in Hot Springs waiting who knows how long to sell!! Apparently, they don't do a decaf so you'd have to find that elsewhere.

Have you tried Community Dark Roast
I got hooked on Community Dark Roast (south Louisiana coffee) after I married my wife. She is from Baton Rouge and her father drank it although he usually drank the dark roast with chickory. I cannot handle the bitterness of the chickory but I love the plain dark roast. I have found a store here in Omaha that carries it so I don't have to order it through the mail. If you live in HSV, I believe that the grocery store just outside the west gate carries Community coffee. If not, you can order it online if you want to try it. Here in Omaha it sells for $5.75 a pound as I just bought some yesterday so it's not overly expensive. Give it a try if you like strong coffee.

River City Coffee is great. I get my expresso there, straight from Italy, 250 pods for $100which is not bad at all. Give them a call, they can probably help you out or maybe tell you something you could find in Hot Springs. I hate Starbucks. Good Luck!

Second the vote on RoZark Hills coffee. Much better than Starbucks and Millstone (which I will drink in a pinch).
I've had conversations with the owners, as I stop there to buy from their retail store and, IMO, they know coffee.
I'll swing by there next week and get a list of some of the coffee houses in the state that use their roasts; that way some of you can try them out for yourselves.
