I don't know what to think - I know the captain personally, worked with him in patrol at LRPD. He was a pretty upright guy...family of police officers. Before we all go off on a tangent about the corrupt police, I'm only stating my personal knowledge of the man. He was a very good officer.

Well, it will be interesting to see who throws who under the bus. The only smart one at this point is Jessica what's-her-name, who has gone to ground and hasn't been heard from since this all happened.

Nita, I have to agree - Clinton was just an embarrassment as far as I'm concerned - but Arkansans did what they do best and rallied 'round the home team guy. Cigars and oval offices, lies...sigh...at least Petrino hasn't said "I did not have sex with that woman", but I'm sure it's coming.

I really don't see him getting fired. He's a great coach of a valuable college team. This will get swept away if he will just STOP LYING. Everyone needs to stop covering up - whatever happened probably isn't nearly as bad as the stories people can spin if left to their own imagination. At the very least, I can't see how it could get much worse...
That reminds me of a situation in the MLB a few years back when a plate umpire made a obviously bad call that cost a young pitcher a perfect game. Right after the game, the umpire admitted that he made a mistake and owned it. The situation and backlash was over quickly because he admitted and owned his wrongdoing.

Take it as a guy from Hampton/Newport News, VA who had to go through the Mike Vick backlash and got clowned for being from the same area. The best thing you can say is yeah he screwed up but he ain't me or all of us.

As a Penn State fan, this is nothing. I'd much rather be in your shoes. At least then, stupid people would only claim that I support infidelity, rather then pedophilia.

Our company just left and we had a great lunch with lots of talk about Patrino. Our son in law poiinted out what I had said yesterday, this time of the year to even be thinkiing of looking for a top notch coarch would be a joke and like it or not football supports the school. Add to that the players who stayed instead of filing for the pros this year, mostly to finish their college carreer under Patrino would feel ripped off as well as all the kids who have been recruied to play for hiim. Right or wrong, the chances of his getting booted are prett slim. The biggest issue still is the attempt to cover up plus his hiring her for 56,000 a year to do a cushy job just a few weeks ago.

I think that has been my point all along. This isn't a major scandle like what you went through or what some of the politicians have been involved in. This is sad for everyone involved, it is not something we want to see happen but it isn't anything that doesn't happen on a weekly basis, believe it or not. What you are facing or your the college is has serious renafications. We are talking prison, pssible law suits, young boys lives been ruined, a loved coach being humiliated at the end of his life.

Razorback fans should be happy. They know they have a coach with the kind of character that it takes to be successful in College football. Lets face it, in College football the coaches that play by the rules don't get the best athletes, and at the end of the day who has the best players usually wins.

To be a successful college football coach you have to be a scumbag. I think Petrino has a bright future in college football. This is why I am not a college football fan.

Hope this links to the story: PETRINO UPDATE: 911 Call, Trooper Questioned & Drivers Contradict Police Report More is coming out; more people are going to get hurt.

AR has become the laughing stock of the nation now. "AR Coach busted" is running on the Times Square Ticker; ESPN radio has some sportscasters laughing...literally.

Makes me sick!
BTW, last night I checked the sports forum just to see what is being said about the issue: Do you know, other than a couple postings the only ones that have even addressed the issue are a few of us. I really don't think it is a national scandal right now. Will it turn out to be? Who knows but only us Arkies and a few others who really don't like AR period are making an issue out of this.

I actually first learned about this whole mess right here on CD. I live only 3 hours from Fayetteville, but I never saw anything on our news about it. That's not to say it wasn't aired, because I don't see every news broadcast, but I never saw a thing. Of course here, if it doesn't have something to do with OU or OSU nothing much is reported. I've read a bit about it on ESPN but it's not all over the news or anything. I doubt most of the country cares one way or the other.

I doubt Apparently there is a connection between ESPN and the Altanta Falcons which creates what appears to be an ESPN hatred for Bobby Patrino. At least that was in the paper this morning. I can't remember all the details. This is why there has been more coverage on ESPN.

I have seen the story on several networks. Most believe that he should be fired but won't because the hogs have a winning record. I would tend to agree with that. A losing coach would have already been shown the door.
