Default Another one moving to Arkansas!

Well it looks like we are moving to Arkansas and I'm scared to death. This is a big change from Wisconsin. So I need advice. If you could pick anywhere to live around the Little Rock area where would that be? If you could pick the best school in the area where would you choose?

Fayetteville as a whole is one of the better school districts in the state.

I think the OP asked about Little Rock, neither Fayetteville or Hot Spings would be considered near there. How about Conway? As for overall living Fayettevilel would be great, just not near Little Rock.

Maumelle, great middle school I've been told and a fairly soon to be built high school. Conway school system is very crowded (again, second hand knowledge but with only 2 high schools and population of about 50k, think about it.)

Hot Springs isn't much further from Little Rock than Conway. Maybe an extra 15-20 minutes.

Bringing things back to Little Rock and the surrounding area.....

How far away from Little Rock can you stretch your limits, and what ages for the school? What kind of a curriculum are you looking for? Are you a tremendous supporter of public schools no matter what, or are you open to private education? Special needs of any sort? Believe me, all of these matter a great deal when making the transition to central Arkansas schools....

jwisconsin,

Moderator cut: advertising My wife was born and raised here and I was raised in eastern Arkansas. We love it here. We have great schools, parks, golf courses, and plenty of entertainment for kids or adults. If Little Rock doesn't suit you best, you could look at Cabot, Maumelle, North Little Rock (separate city), or Bryant. Moderator cut: no personal info, please use DM feature. I check it ALL the time.

I hope this helps!

Default Sheridan

Sheridan is South of Little Rock and close enough to enjoy shopping in Little Rock. Benton is also close enough to Little Rock and there is also Bryant that is between Benton and Little Rock.

DH is from Arkansas and we'll be going back there next year to stay after his mil. service is up. We're waiting to close on a great new house in North Little Rock that's perfect for our family and only 15 minutes outside downtown. If schools aren't an issue for you (they aren't for us; we plan to use private schools in the city) it may work well for you. Modest prices too! PM me for details.
