My husband works at Gates. It's pretty much the highest paying plant job around here. It has a great benefits package, and they do several events for the families of the employees every year. Now for the downside: it's almost impossible to get on 1st shift. My husband works with people who have been there for 10 years who can't get on first. What they do is, when a position opens up on first shift, the whole plant can bid on it. Whomever has the most seniority (been there the longest) who bids gets the job.
As far as schools, they are pretty decent. I went to school in a nearby town and growing up, I always wanted to go to Siloam because they have more opportunities...different foreign languages, volleyball, tennis, swim teams, etc. My son is in first grade and has had a good experience.
