"Bless your heart" has many different forms in the south...you know that, rack! I think you can get by with saying about anything to anyone if you either start or end with "bless your heart"...
I have a favorite story about my mother-in-law, who suffered from Alzheimer's before she died and lost all inhibition and control. She would say anything to anybody, you just never knew it was coming...we went to a political fundraiser with some power houses in Arkansas and she was clicking on every frequency...doing great - until we got to the Important Woman in the room...and mother-in-law blurts out "well, honey, it is SO nice to know you, but you're just uglier than two miles of bad road...BLESS YOUR HEART".......I spewed an amaretto sour about 15 feet - I could have won an old-fashioned spitting contest right then and there...bless my heart... I should infract myself for going off topic...

Now, let's be kind. When the DDAIU is compiled and printed (definitive dictionary of Arkansas idiom and usage) do not expect many sales. How many users would be looking for the usage of "bless your heart" as a paradigmatic expression? Without being unkind, most users/posters would have no idea as to what at paradigmatic expression is, or what you are talking about....... OK... enough of this... just find me a river property with space and privacy and no one will have to bless my heart again... although I am really a very kindly person who just happens to want to come to Arkansas, live on a river, and live peacefully with the surrounding elements. Once there, I'll be sure to invite RACKENSACK to dinner... a friend of George W. Cable?

Well, come here to Russellville and buy outside of Dover on the Piney...there must not be i-net or cable on the rivers, we can't beat folks out of the woods on a bet with your thread...

the Caddo is a magnificent though short float. A fishermans dream! The Forche Le Fave is much longer and is floatable at some spots but lots of portaging. traveling it will take you past a variety of landscapes and give some indication of various ways of life in Arkansas. None of central/southern Arkansas rivers will bring you into anything as cosmopolitan as Northwest Arkansas. Or can I use the words cosmopolitan and Arkansas inthe same sentence?

Lt. Dan,you seem to know about some of the rivers...the OP is looking for a piece of property with waterfront to a river on it. As we know, much of the land around the rivers is protected. Maybe from your perch there in TN you can help snadely?

Check Glenwood, Arkansas on the Caddo. My sister lives there and I thought about moving to Glenwood when I retired. While I was looking for property, I looked at riverfront lots on the Caddo, you almost needed a Hummer to get there, but you were definitely on the river. Also, at the time I looked, about 10 years ago, there were no utilities there yet but probably are now. I did not buy there and decided on Hot Springs Village instead.

I am happy to weigh in on river living in N Central Ar. We are living on the White River about 9 miles below Bull Shoals Dam in the small town of Cotter Fishing is world class and the river is crystal clear. The Corp of Engineers control the water release from the Dam so river flow is determined by them. Its a beautiful and peaceful area with the most friendly folks around you'd ever want to meetl There's plenty of River property for sale in the area including mine. Come check us out. You won't be disappointed.

Snadely
Along the Caddo you will find NO shopping except for small country stores. Mena would be the closest Walmart at the west. Along the Fourche Le Favre going west to east you will find nothing because the biggest town it flows near is about 2000 people. Ypo WILL have to sacrifice convenience for serenity. |

Try backing up from the Arkansas River. I know there are people with property just off the Arkansas. Call a marina on the Arkansas and see what they say.

Snadely, I don't know about property for sale in this location, you might check with the realtor I DM'd you about - but southest of Atkins is Holla Bend River Road (yes, correct spelling), sorta south of Galla Rock and Lake Atkins. Atkins is a nice little town even though the pickle factory isn't there anymore, and south of there is pretty barren as far as people. There may be some property that backs up to the Arkansas River down there. Atkins is only about 15 miles from Russellville...also look around Piney beween London and Knoxville. Ozark, which is further west, has the river running almost through it and Greenwood isn't too far. Ozark and Greenwood don't have a metropolis of shopping, but the basics are there. Just trying to throw some things into the ring for ya!
