Default Move to Magnolia

Magnolia has several places to hunt for a job. Don't take advice from someone who can't even use correct grammar. There are jobs in manufacturing, oil & gas, retail, healthcare, education - in public, private, and at the university level. You just have to be the right candidate to get the job.

Good luck. I had to jump in here after I read all the doom and gloom posts. Magnolia is doing just fine.

Default Jobs in Magnolia Ar

MrBG
Did not mean to ask an already answered question. I reply without reviewing the thread. An update on what you are seeking still may help.
Southern99 answers was right on the money. We are in much better shape than many areas and are generally are a community that responds well to economic challenges. As most of the rest of the country we have not faced an economy like the current one but we will give it our best shot.

I work at the chemical plant in Magnolia. Don't bother going there for a job. We have had so many of the " permanent contractors" laid off lately. If things ever turn around, they would have the first shot to be rehired. Same thing with the chemical plant in El Dorado. I also heard that the oilfield work has slowed way down. Good luck finding something around here.

Default On the other hand

The health care industry is booming - new hospital, 2 new (green and innovative) nursing & rehab facilities under constrction, New KFC, total remodel on Taco bell, Local restaurant building new location, several historic old building now rehabed & housing new small businesses, new non-profit to rehab property for new facility.
Also major building boom at our University to position it well for the future.
Always positions in small business service sector for honest, hard working craftsmen.
The chemical company may choose a cheaper path over seas but they it may trim down and stick it out till things get better.
Oil field is down some but so is the price at the pump. Can't have both.
So- despite unusual economic conditions - there are many, local & not, that are betting on Magnolia.
So am I.

Chicken plants also closing to add to the job market problems in this area. I had a coworker who was laid off 2 weeks ago at the chemical plant. His wife works at the chicken plant. Now she is losing her job also. With all the layoffs around here, I don't see how there could be many jobs out there. Unless all these people being laid off aren't seeking other jobs.

I am originially from Stamps, and have been a student at Southern Arkansas University for a few years now. Depending on the type of work you are looking into, SAU is the place I would recommend if planning to stay within Magnolia. There are a few more options if travel isnt completely out of the question. Murphey Oil is based in the El Dorado area, as well as several industrial plants in Camden, each around a 30 minute drive one-way. Retail is always an option for Magnolia and Camden. There are plenty of retail stores in each location. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
