More information on Russellville
I grew up in the Dumas, Arkansas area. I now live in Albuquerque, NM and was thinking of moving to Arkansas to retire. In all the years OFgoing back to Arkansas for vacations, I had never been in Russellville until our last trip when we stopped there for lunch.
I thought the area was extremely beautiful and the town very clean. Does this area have a mosquito/tick problem?
I have also heard that Arkansas people can treat you as an outsider if you move from another state. I was born in Arkansas, but after all these years I might be considered an outsider.
Although, I'm considering retiring, it's a possiblity that it may not be for me. I love to fish and quilt, but that may get old after a while. What is the job market like for bookkeepers in this area. I have 30 years of experience with most of that in CPA firms.
My husband is originally from Pennsylvania. He is retired military and can talk to anyone who was ever in the military, anyone who fishes or hunts.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

You won't find many mosquitos in Russellville. Ticks and chiggers on the other hand are plentyfull if you spend any time in the woods.
Hunting and fishing oppertunities are abundant. I wouldn't worry about being considered an outsider. Russellville is a large enough town that this won't be a problem.
I'm sure you and your husband will love it there.

I currently am a Russellville resident, and have lived here for 19 years. I moved here from Kansas, and if you ever visit southwest Kansas you will know why I moved!! HA!HA! Russellville is a very beautiful area. I have no relatives that live within a 5 hour driving distance, and feel that I have extended family here in Russellville. Russellville is very warm and friendly! I absolutely love Russellville!! Good luck with your move!! Oh, considering the employment opportunities well, if you do move to Russellville, you would want to go to a good employment agency, and get registered. Penmac and Express are among the top two employment agencies. Since you are from out of town, I would highly recommend going with the employment agency because they can help you prepare for any immediate employment openings!
Hope this helps!!

Russellville, is a great place to retire, close to banks, grocery fishing...housing is very affordable, but Bookkeeping positions are few and far between, and the salaries are degrading , approximately 1/4 or few dollars above min wage.

Baptist lady, you're just having a bad week, aren't you? LOL!
There are some bookkeeping jobs, and much will depend on your standard of living, what you want, and if you're willing to branch out from what you know.
As far as mosquitos....they are KILLING us this summer, but this is very, very unusual - it's been a rainier than normal summer, although today is hot as a biscuit.

and let me tell you about salaries in NM. I am sure the op could fill you in as well. Small states don't pay great wages.

Russellville Right
Russellville is nice to look at on the surface. But look a little deeper and you really get to know the place. This is a town full of liers, thierfs and con men. Mostly dressed up on lawyer suites and all with a smile on. They operate a false evidence mill in the city of Russellville. And have a court system that is build on milking the men of the area out of ther hard earned money by generating false evidence. The judges know it is going on and do nothing, which lets every one know they are in on it. The way the scheme works is the department of human services will generat false evidence and or have a local counselor in the mental health community generat it for them. They use this to force a ajudification hearing and will remove one parent rights from the minor child. This forceing the offended party to spend all his wealth if any. This process will go on for years. Once you child is interduced into this perverted and corrupt system it is over you will never see you child agin. DO NOT MOVE TO Russellvile Period. The whole city is like that not just the Lawyers. Even the preachers slander you and then go to church and brag about there good conduct. Which includes such things at lieing under oath, bearing false witness. And for most of them here adultry. Like I said this is a nice looking place on the surface but look a little deeper and you get the real story. The police here have a rep for killing people in jail. The political side of the story is graft as usual. And the city is all about making the rich feel confortable. The are a two faces people here abouts.

Russellville isn't that bad! It's a great place to raise kids and hang out outdoors, but if you are looking for high paying jobs your just out of luck. I've lived here since off and on since 1981 and this town has been good to me and my family. Good luck!
