Buyacar--We live in far north east CA now, but last year we bought property in Pocahontas, which is about 45 minutes from Paragould. We LOVE it there. Planning a move when my husband retires, not so very long now! We have been there in March and in June. It is humid, but where we bought, the mosquitos weren't bad at all. It's a beautiful part of the state. If you are seriously considering buying in Paragould (and I don't blame you for wanting out of CA!), go and spend a week there. You didn't say, maybe you already did. I think it's a good move. Good luck!

I am from California, South of San Francisco. It's very busy here. I am planning on how to make my dream come true- living in the Ozark region or the Ouachita Mt area- out on 50 acres in the middle of nowhere. This is a lot of area! Can anyone help me with the differences between the various locations within this area? Any info or opinions would be appreciated- topology, land cover, people, jobs, anything! Thanks.

LOL, I think you're headed in the right direction! Actually we're thinking about either heading out to CA or coming back home. I'm starting to think we should maybe think more about heading back to AR. We've got two kids and probably could not afford to have a 3rd if we go to CA but definitely could if we came back that way!

If you move to CA, we will really be covering the same ground. I want to move to the Ozarks and slow down. It's kind of crazy in CA. The weather is nice and there are jobs, so there are a lot of people here.

Yep! Lots of people isn't really my cup of tea per se, but I love the diversity offered by L.A. I'd be transferring with my current employer so all I need to know is how much they'd pay me. Of course, there is also the idea that if we move back to AR, L.A. is always just a plane ride away and we could actually afford to go there once or twice a year with the extra spending capacity we'd have!

Good luck with your decision. You could always move to LA to give it a try, then back to AR if you don't like LA.
