I would like to visit Hot Springs. Do you have to go to a hotel to get in the hot springs or is there a cheaper way to do it? Thanks so much.

Are you talking about taking the hot baths or seeing the hot springs springs?

You can walk right up to the springs, they are spread over a small area at the north end of Bathhouse row. And you don't "get in", they are too hot!

I've been there before and seen people sticking their feet in them. Maybe they just had thick skin!

But yeah, if you want to completely bathe in them, you have to go to one of the bath houses. I don't know if the open one downtown is too hot to completely submerge in, but I don't think the city would allow that....can you imagine the mess if they did?

Of course, I could be wrong, as I don't live there.

I think the water is 160 deg. Its cooled a bit for the fountains. I miss the water and the area. Its just a great place to live.

I put my hands in the water the day after we had the snow storm right after Christmas. With the snow melting into it, it felt perfect.
