Sam, that was lyrics to a song and the author/singer were acknowledged...there was no intent to infringe on the copyright laws...no intent to profit from them.

I understand you're doing your job, but every cover band in the country is in trouble and half the quotes on the various forums are illegal according to your interpretation.

Not including at least an excerpt in the post detracts from the message of the post..i.e. the concept of living life in lockstep.

I live close to both HS and HSV and, yes, HSV has the sterotype of being rude. Not to say ALL are rude BUT a considerable amount are rude.

Many have moved there from the north where folks just aren't as friendly.

Ecuse me, I'm from the north and hold open doors for all people and when someone else does I say thank you. I say good morning, afternoon and evening to everyone, thank the wait staff and other people that are in the service industry. Even though I was one the phone the last few days with the local cable company about an install issue I was nothing but nice even though I had to call at least 7 times and go through the automated answering service, and get cut off twice, and called again, and finally got somone that was a little more helpful than the last. I deal with people on a daily basis myself and they never cease to amaze me. How you want to look at them is up to you, take it for a grain of salt and surround yourself with the type of people you enjoy being with. I can be happy anywhere pretty much but then that is how I'm made. Rude people have probably always been that way and might not even be aware of it. Maybe a disorder of sorts. But please don't start dissing the northerners. We have had proper upbringings also. No part of the country has rights to that. Manners are manners no matter where you are from.
As far as rules, that is why there are so many places to live, I will say from personal experience that when the rules are in place and upheld that property values hold and gain compared to areas that are more lax. Not my opion but fact. But here again there are lots of places to live to suit everyone. Some people just don't think the rules should apply to them and that is where the problem can come in. They were pobably the one in school that sat in the principles office and served detention more than once. Prisons are full of them also.
So I'll get off my soap box now and let the rest of you chew on this for awhile.

SamIAm has challenged the second sentence, so I'll challenge the first. Where do you get your data?

I would bet that any survey show that very few that move to HSV ever move away.

Default For Stayoutofthebushes...

You live in HSV? Isn't that interesting...your IP shows you slightly out of St. Louis, which is where several other posters, all with different names, and all of whom have just posted once in this thread are located. And you all seem to have the same general outlook on HSV....Isn't life strange?

I can see many here have a slant because they think they are somehow responsible for the "status of the village"
Those that like the village will not stop the people who do from living there, and vis versa.
This forum is for people to give a point of view for others to see and make a desision on moving to an area.
I think we should let people have their opinion.
I know of people first hand who have moved out because they do not like it here. Now how do I "document that"? You cant just like you cant prove it is not true unless you do an in depth news review.
And it is not news worthy as we have more problems to take care of than see how many or what % does not like where they bought.
Why is it when some one has a different opinion of a place the people who feel like they need to run into a phone booth and pull off their suit and fly out and save the village seem to try to refute any opinion that is not as their own?
So someone does not like it here so what, let them say so.
jesus, when you defend so hard it would only make me wonder what you are trying to cover up, is it that bad and you are trying to sell you home and want the people looking to think it is great?
and it works the other way as well.

Nita

We are thirteen year residents of HSV and before I start, I know OF Mr. Adkins, but DO NOT know him personally and don't believe we would know him if he passed by us at any function. Since we as villagers have been blasted by some of the input to this thread, I would like to let you know of the folks I know as residents of HSV and you can decide for yourself whether or not we need a slap on the side of the head. Neither my wife nor I are from the North for what that is worth.
1. After Katrina, many villagers opened their private homes to people of color coming from New Orleans. They were provided shelter, food, clothing and spending money. For those that could not be accomodated in the homes, houses were rented and food, clothing and money were provided. This was done until the the city of Hot Springs/FEMA could make other arrangements.
2. Villagers sponsered a cancer walk for the benefit of cancer research at the Little Rock UAMS. Hundreds of villagers came out and did the walk. It raised close to $30,000 plus or minus a little. Some of the money came from company sponsership, but mostly door prizes for the drawing. Wal-Mart, all three of them, provided food and drinks.
3. Villager woodworkers build thousands of toys for the poor kids in Hot Springs and Benton. Large trucks, doll cradles, etc. Thousands of hours of work are spent each year by these folks and many wives make dolls from scratch (they buy the head, hands and feet or whatever it is) but make the body and limbs. They sew the most beautiful doll clothes. They have a sample showing each year before Christmas. It is amazing.
4. Villagers serve as tutors and mentors at the area schools.
5. Villagers participate at the Boys and Girls club, not only with monetary funds but coaching sports etc.
6. Villagers volunteer at the hospitals in Hot Springs. They drive the parking lot carts, work the gift shop, in the ER, the info booth, push patients in wheelchairs, in the accounting office and go wherever directed.
7. When the sub "USS Razorback" was brought to Little Rock, villagers who did thier military duty on subs, went and worked on it getting it ready for the tourists. They replaced most of the wood deck.
8. Villagers volunteer at the Senior Center. They help on the front desk and on the food serving line, washing platters and silverware, picking-up around the center, offer and teach classes in numerous activities, including basic computers skills as well as some of the more advanced programs. They deliver meals to the unable in the surrounding area and in the village. They use their own vehicles to pick-up senior folks in the surrounding area and bring them to the center so that they may participate in the activities of the center.
9. Villagers volunteer for the property owners association in so many numerous ways it would take forever to cover and I would probably would miss some area.
10. As did Mr. Adkins, villagers volunteer to stand for election to the Board of the property owners association. We have a outstanding quality Board to represent us as village property owners.

I had better stop here but I do want to mention the tennis players who volunteer to teach the kids of the surrounding area the basics of tennis. I guess this makes us a bunch of self-centered whatever. BTW, The only "blue" that I know of is that of the folks around the corner who have a blue painted driveway. The village is a beautiful living forest which we all try to protect from the infringement of folks who only wish to destroy it. IMHO, Mr. Estrada doesn't even come close to describing it's natural beauty on TV. TKS.

Wow, people of color eh? What a great deed! I guess, If they were White, it would have not been such a "wonderful deed". But helping "people of color", the Lord will bless you double for that!
